If nothing else, the tropers posting their opinions in the current season thread are at least reasonable and represent a range of viewpoints.
Still, greater coverage and less flat out bias shouldn't be so unlikely for blog.

"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."I don't mind if there are teams, but most anime reviewing teams has similar tastes across their members. When I say unbiased, I mean they don't say things like "this show is bad/good because it is (insert genre here). Goodbye." I don't mind if they let their preferences influence their reviews as long as they do a proper review like what they did with other shows.
The threads are more or less intersubjective (which is a good thing), but the coverage isn't wider than an average seasonal preview.
"Season One Episode One" used to have very good coverage (but definitely not free of bias), but the blogger burnt out.
I read the blog a bit and you are indeed right.
At the same time, it appeared that kids' and merchandise driven shows are deemed to have the tendency of being no-brainer and shallow. Isn't that how one watches a show (not just anime, period) will influence how deep a show looks?
I'm also surprised at how relatively popular Terra Formars is. God, that manga is so ridiculous, stupid, yet awesome at the same time.
I stayed away from it due to the Unfortunate Implications about how the roach people look....
It is unfortunate. But if you ever do change your mind, I'd recommend it on the basis of an over the top action sci-fi story with actually decent character interactions.
I forget, remember when BONES announced that they were going to animate a familiar title sometime back? Has anyone heard anything about that ever since?
Follow me on tumblr! No, but nondisclosure agreements are a bitch. Try to keep that in mind.
It'll probably come up later this year.
Ah, so they still haven't said anything yet. I was trying to remember if they already did or not.
EDIT: Aw, geez. It's been almost a whole year since the announcement already?

Follow me on tumblr! For Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, is the sub or dub better? I've decided to watch the series for the first time, and I want to have the best viewing experience possible. I personally don't favor either, and I would prefer replies from people who have watched the series in its entirety with both.

There is the Jesu Otaku's take on the matter which iirc focuses on the voice actors and suggests that both language tracks are fine, but if you want to hear Kamina as he's intended to be you should listen to the original audio.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."If you want to cut to the chase with the subs, they're being uploaded to Hulu and Crunchyroll (currently up to episode 18 on Hulu). Probably the safest option considering that damn pricetag Aniplex put on it.
It's almost sad that I'm saying that, given I tend to go for the dub when possible (and TTGL does have a good one).
In case anyone's interested hulu just uploaded a couple boy's love series, Gravitation and Junjou Romantica.

Wait, so Nozomi is starting to put up their titles on Hulu now?
Follow me on tumblr!Yeah, I think I prefer the Japanese version for Gurren Lagann. The dub loses quite a bit of the original's spark.
What's precedent ever done for us?This is very shocking, considering he was set to play Todoroki-sensei in Silver Spoon (for obvious reasons) — depending how long the recording has gotten or if it gets another season, they'll have to replace him. RIP.
What I've read of the Sakura Trick manga is actually really good! Provided you like yuri
Now I just hope it's a full 20+ minutes instead of shorts
I'm disappointed in that there's only one translated chapter so far.
Let's see, since it's a monthly series that started in March 2011, it should have about 27 chapters now. That's enough for 12 half-hour episodes, right?

Follow me on tumblr! With a bit of padding, yeah (and 4koma tend to need padding to make everything flow)
I don't think a single person could have enough spare time to cover every show. Plus, if someone does, bias would find its way in by default, as an unbiased individual does not exist.
