Let us discuss sneeze headcanons because someone just sneezed and it startled me.

Who has the tiny mouse sneeze and who has the crazy loud sneeze?

Well if it's dead, any chance of any of the following telling me how old they are for the purposes of averages and comparing that average to the list of two years ago? I swear to not share the specific age of anyone that tells me through a PM!

A time travel discussion cropped up in the Darths And Droids thread.

Someone said some things about time travel and the limitations thereof (like, theoretical limits upon any fictional system) that kinda precluded my retcon theory and general understanding of Paradox Space's causality.

I don't think I succeeded in persuading the other party.

I think, for all my ability to model this kind of thing, I might be really terrible at describing it?

Do I get too wrapped up in trying to comprehensively explain something, right out of the gate, instead of like, easing into the explanation I guess, d'you think?

I don't think it was supposed to be an argument though, so much as a description of an idea.

I guess an argument that the idea is coherent I guess?

But, I think it's unlikely that the idea is incoherent.

More unlikely than that I misunderstood the situation.

Edit: I guess they could also disagree that what they described precludes the model Raichu was describing, so that's a case that for some reason I didn't consider at first.

Edit2: Also, clearly auto responder has a very loud sneeze, and for any of the other characters the question is mostly incoherent.

Not in the sense that they don't sneeze, but rather that the question as to whether they sneeze, or how hard they sneeze, is not a question that makes sense to ask, or has an answer.

Unless some character does sneeze in Canon which I failed to remember.

I vaguely feel like that might have happened, but all I can think of is when Terezi took a punch of sour apple to the snout through the smelloscope when Prospit was destroyed.

Heh, okay, fair point, Ninety.

But they were saying that a model of an alternative reality conserved narrative causality, but not ontological causality.

That's wrong by definition: There was no narrative about the reality I described, and the only relevant ontology is that of the posited reality— The ontology can't be violated by the ontology, when the rules are consistent, that doesn't make sense. And there were no inconsistencies in the ontological rules I laid out, few as they were. It was a case of conflating facts of our reality with logical necessities of any sensible reality, which is clearly absurd; it implies that all fiction, being counterfactual in some manner, makes no sense, which is if nothing else a view that they clearly didn't actually hold. Therefore, contradiction.

I do think what they said precludes my retcon theory (I didn't actually bring it up, I brought up a different, simpler, Homestuck-independent model to show why their limitations were not as absolute as they thought they were), and I do feel they were wrong objectively, because, while I may be wrong, and my retcon theory might not model Homestuck accurately, it still makes perfect sense as a fictional system. To say it doesn't, even implicitly, is wrong, and to say that it necessarily creates paradoxes (it doesn't) involves all events always happening (they didn't, at least not on the meta-timeline) or "tosses logic out the window" (I certainly didn't defenestrate my primary tool in crafting this theory), again even implicitly, is similarly wrong.

Besides, I know that some of the disagreement with my retcon theory, principally with JT and Red, has been motivated by misunderstandings, and some of it hasn't. It's not just a "They must have misunderstood me, there's no other way they could have disagreed!" I sincerely think my explicative ability might be supremely lacking in simplicity— That I'm overly hard to follow. I've been suspecting I'm kind of shit at that for a long while, now, and this was just an opportunity to ask you guys' thoughts, seeing as I value your opinions and you've been exposed to my retcon stuff and arguments along those lines more than most anyone else.

Also, madaco, yeah pretty much, and also this is a question about how people think they sneeze when they do sneeze: Not really any more incoherent than asking what they sound like when they talk, given as it's entirely possible they do sneeze (though Trolls or Cherubs or Carapacians might not?) even if we never see it.

I guess we can safely say that Tavrosprite is kind of a dick now not because of Vriska, but because of Rufioh, which also makes plenty of sense.

Uh, part of the joke was that AR doesn't really have much of a face, and certainly* has no nose, so it would be absurd for them to be the only one for which questions about them sneezing would be meaningful.

I was staying something meant to be obviously false. It was meant to somewhat reflect (in somewhat of an exaggerated way) my view of headcanons.

Is this going to turn out that Vriska is really being a jerk, or she's being a jerk so that Jake finds his self-esteem at the appropriate time, or she's is so much of a jerk she makes Jake unable to do that when the time comes?

It's probably that Vriska really doesn't like Pages, from her perspective, but from a narrative perspective she just gave Jake one hell of a redemption arc push.

Hey, Vriska is cool even if she's a horrible bitch most of all of the time.

I like Vriska significantly more than I like Tavros and Jake, combined, so this update was mostly just funny.

I'm guessing that when we ultimately see Mousa's reaction to this it will closely resemble Karkat in full flight.

I don't really much like those two either but I'm not amused to see her rolling all over them and butting into their conversation and just being a completely unlikeable bitch.

Okay, Vriska apathy is gone, I'm back to hating her again.
