VG Music Game

Go To

The rules are pretty simple— I'm thinking of a song. It's from a video game. Guess what song it is. You can ask yes/no questions for hints.note  Whoever guesses the song first will take control of the game and choose their own song. To this point, we've accumulated over 800 songs among 12 years and 39000 posts— thanks to everyone who's played so far!

Tips for future reference, if it's your turn:
- Make sure to keep track of hints you've given! Also, if an answer is kinda fuzzy, you can elaborate a little bit.
- Try not to repeat a game. Same game/series is acceptable, but there's a lot of music still untouched. Same game and song is right out. Be sure to check this list thoroughly!

Shall we begin?

Solved Rounds:

     1 - 100
     101 - 200
     201 - 300
     301 - 400
     401 - 500

Yes.

The preview of this game featured two songs in the public domain; only one of those songs would be featured in the game. Name that song and the game in which it featured.

The song has already been solved. Find the game.

The game...

  • was released within the past ten years.
  • was not rated T or under.
    • Not rated M.
    • Not on Wikipedia's page of AO-rated games.
    • Unrated.
  • is an adaptation of existing media.
    • Not an adaptation of a movie.
    • Technically not an adaptation of an anime.
    • Technically not an adaptation of a TV show.
  • is not part of a series.
  • Is out already.
  • Lacks a page on this wiki.
  • Not PC.
    • Not Xbox Live.
    • Not Nintendo DS.
    • Not virtual-console type.
    • Not on the PSP or related.
    • Not on the Nokia N-Gage.
    • iPhone app.
      • Thus, it's certainly younger than five years old.
  • Technically it's available on the Internet.
    • Official release was over the Internet.
    • Not available from non-Internet sources.
    • "Available to buy over the internet, but playable on a console": statement is technically false.
      • It can't officially be played on a console.
      • It is a handheld game.
      • It is available on some model of mobile phone/smartphone.
      • Not free.
  • Not part of the following genres:
    • Action.
    • Visual novel.
    • RPG.
    • Simulator.
    • Puzzle.
    • Platformer.
    • FPS.
    • Does not involve lining up objects. (So it's not Tetris and Korobeiniki.)
      • It's a strategy game.
        • Real-time strategy.
  • Not indie.
  • Not flash.
  • Probably counts as casual, though some degree of YMMV.
  • Not present-day.
    • Not past.
  • Unrelated to Nintendo.
  • The title is not three words long.
  • The game does not feature a character who has appeared before.
  • The game does not take place on Earth.
    • Takes place in space.
  • Does not appear to feature multiple unit types.
  • Not themed after a movie.
  • Not:
    • Zenonia.
    • Empire of the Eclipse.
    • Ascendancy.
    • Gemini Wars.
    • Space Harvest.
    • Space Station: Frontier.
    • Warpgate.
    • Auralux.

The music...

  • besides the two songs mentioned, there are no other public domain songs in the work.
  • has shown up in many non-game media.
  • classical piece.
    • Not Baroque.
    • Not Classical (in the chronological sense).
    • Not Romantic.
  • Composer is not on our Music Of Note page, oddly enough.
  • The two preview songs are not by the same composer.
    • Nor are they of the same musical period.
  • The composer of the target song was born before 1921.
  • Neither composer is Western European.
    • CORRECTION! Neither are from the Western Hemisphere.
    • Neither is from America.
    • Both are from Europe.
    • Both are from a former Soviet client state.
    • Both are Russian.
    • One is on Wikipedia's list of 20th-century composers.
      • Not Stravinsky.
      • Not Prokofiev.
      • Not Glazunov.
      • Not Savoyarov.
      • One of the composers is Dmitri Shostakovich.
      • Our target song's composer is Shostakovich.
  • The target song:
