I don't know about any of you guys, but I'm stoked.
That being said, Harmonix had better have something really good up their sleeves if they're going to try and single-handedly revitalize the music game market - keyboards would be a nice addition, but at that point the game would run the risk of being less like Rock Band and more like Pop'N Music.
READ THIS COMIC. | Read along as I play through my games collection! It's a piano accordion.
The full title of the game will be Rock Band 3: Folk Band.
I didn't write any of that. The addition of keyboards gives me an idea! Rock Band: Queen MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.
GOH! JII! RAH!I just want male and female vocal tracks. No longer will my metalhead sing like a girl!
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIPeople on the Rock Band forums are wondering if they'll go back and chart the over 1000-song catalog for harmonized vocals and keyboards.
Probably not.
So I just heard Harmonix is working a Natal-based Dance game.
If that's the case, I can see a Michael Jackson game in the future.
Got the presser from MTV.
Personally, the songs that excite me are “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News, “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd (last time I played it was in Guitar Hero II), “Space Oddity” by David Bowie, “In a Big Country” by Big Country, “Whip It” by Devo, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple, and “Plush” by Stone Temple Pilots.
Now that you have to deal with keyboards, you can bet the killer song for that instrument will be Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”. Other songs that will be making serious use of the instrument will be “Sister Christian” by Night Ranger, “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, and “Break on Through (To the Other Side)” by The Doors.
Jonah FalconDon't Stop Believing DLC better be
- keyboard compatible
- improved with the audience sing-along mechanic. WHY DIDN'T THEY DO THAT FOR THE SONG THAT NEEDS IT THE MOST. Missed Moment of Awesome, indeed.

I think Harmonix retrofitted ALL of the songs with keyboards where applicable. Not sure, tho.
Jonah Falcon^ If they did that, it would be cool, but I really doubt they'd do it, simply because there are so many songs available right now that it'd be insane to try to add new parts to all of them (well not all of them, but a whole lot of them). Plus I'm pretty sure that would require redownloading your entire DLC library, which would be horrible.

Holy crap... If Harmonix plays their cards right, they could use a modified version of keyboard gameplay to make...
The Rock Band 3 setlist is pretty good overall. A little bit too heavy on the pop end of the spectrum, but that's just my personal taste speaking. The only disappointment was that Dream Theater didn't make it in; Metropolis Pt.1 was made for this type of game, especially with the keyboard addition. They had better get some Dream Theater DLC at some point; it would kick ass on any instrument.
But for the most part, I can't complain though. Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Train, Rainbow in the Dark, Don't Stand So Close to Me... there are some really good songs on here.
I can't see them going back and adding keyboards to all the DLC, although I could imagine going back and revamping the more famous ones.
Reaction Image RepositoryDefinitely going to have to agree with Metropolis being made for Rock Band, especially Strange Deja Vu and Fatal Tragedy. I'd also be up for Count of Tuscany, even if the song is 20 minutes—it's less wanky than some of DT's other stuff, and I simply cannot state how much fun I'd have singing the lyrics.
And speaking of Weird Al, Albuquerque would be a sweet DLC addition—especially if they chart two Big Rock Endings for the false and real ending. Hardware Store would also be great (not to mention an insta-Tier 7 on Vocals—no time to breathe during the bridge, gotta keep singing!)
I also listened to Something Bigger, Something Brighter, and I think I'm gonna love the guitar part to death—reminds me a bit of M4 Part II by Faunts (the Mass Effect credit music) for some reason.
I was talking about the song Metropolis, but yeah, just about any of their stuff would be great, now that they have the keyboard. I'm still holding out for an Images and Words or Awake full album DLC.
I'd also love to see some Shadow Gallery on there, but that's probably too obscure.
As far as Weird Al goes, "Young, Dumb, and Ugly" would be great for this.
Reaction Image RepositoryI demand The Black Album, Goddammit.
Jonah FalconThe first album DLC for Rock Band 3 is... John Lennon's "Imagine" album.
... damn you.
Jonah FalconOut in stores.
Jonah FalconI bought it as soon as I could. It's quite a bit different from the earlier Rock Band games! I have rather mixed feelings toward this...
It's awesome to live in a world where videogames have scale drills.
Those who accept their fate find happiness; those who defy it, glory.I got it. I'm liking it so far, though I've played for an hour or two. Liking how the new career is set up, and how you can accomplish goals in it via just doing quickplay. It's good stuff.
They actually didn't give every country that isn't in North America the shaft this time.
...My curiosity is piqued. I might pick it up once I have a home with a little privacy (which will be sometime next year. :D).

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.

Viacom President and CEO Philippe Dauman has revealed Rock Band 3 for for the holiday season of 2010, reports Kotaku.
Dauman revealed the game while speaking at the Credit Suisse Group Global Media and Communications Conference this morning. Harmonix followed his revelation with a series Tweeting confirming the game’s existance. The official Rock Band Facebook page then bragged:
Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!
What could make Rock Band 3 “revolutionary”? Can you say “keyboard”? What would you like to see from a new Rock Band?
