Finished Miharu's route in Da Capo. Relatively straightforward, and it's the Tear Jerker route... -_____-

Still like Mako's route the most I think.

Clannad. How does this work? I think I missed the chance for some routes. Am I supposed to play them after the first ending in After Story? Or I should have them all for the first time?

Anyone here ever play a game by the company Minori?

Makoto Shinkai does animations for them, so I'm wondering how good their games are.

Unfortunately the Ef games haven't been fully patched yet, to my knowledge.

But they come very highly rated, or so I gather.

EDIT: Grammar fail.

They'd better be good, what with Makoto Shinkai in charge of animation and all.

The anime adaptations are also meant to be quite nice, if you like cry 'em ups.

You really are obsessing over that guy! Clearly I'll need to steal your Zune and watch 5 cm. tongue Oh well, I've known about Voices Of A Distant Star for years from reading about time dilation, seems cool... offtopic... ellipses...

Well, it's off of my Zune now. Video of that resolution takes up a lot of space. I should have Voices Of A Distant Star on there soon.

I haven't yet.

Though I like the art style for Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa.

I see generic anime. So it goes. And, man, that "fullmetal" expression again

Arilou: My favorite route is either Mako's or Kotori's.

Superior: You can only get After Story if you have 8 Light Orbs AND you have cleared Nagisa's route. So no, you probably missed routes.

Probably. The first day already has opportunities to get into either the Fujibayashi, Tomoyo, or Kotomi routes, for one.

You'll really need a walkthrough for Misae's light orb. Classic case of Guide Dang It!.

Would having watched the anime adaptation help any?

The anime helps in some areas, like the answers you need to give to Misae which were the things that Katsuki talked about her in the anime.

Bump for Kanon Standard Edition Troubleshooting. A word of warning; I have not yet finished the game so I can't say if these tips work. I've only done searching and based these off of what I've found.

First of all, download the English patch here. This patch only works for the RealLive release of KSE, not the AVG 32 one.

As usual for a KEY game, extract everything to the main folder where you installed Kanon, and replace the old seen.txt with the one in the patch.

Next, download the voice patch here. You need to do this because installing the English patch mucks up the voicing, with only Nayuki's voice being heard. Once you've downloaded it, simply extract its contents to the main folder and overwrite everything else.

Caution: As I've said, I haven't played the game yet, so here are some bugs to watch out for:

  • I see people talking about a voice-switching bug in either/both of Nayuki's and Ayu's routes, when they switch voices deep into their respective routes. I'm not sure if this applies to the voice patch I linked to, but its occurrence has been documented as a result of using high quality voices (from the PS 2, but it isn't this patch).
  • Deep into Shiori's route, there are reports that everyone loses voices. According to my research, nothing can be done about this if it happens.

I hope this helped.

Holy crap, the player character of Chaos Head actually shows a shred, a tiny shred but a shred nonetheless, of humanity. Probably he'll try raping someone now to make up for it.

Anyway, I was thinking, would it be correct to say that VNs (and doujin) are the Japanese equivalent to webcomics? In terms of being rather fannish, low production values, extreme Sturgeon's Law that occasionally turns out something awesome?

...there must be webcomics in Japan.
