Well WG just issued an apology that is jointly signed by multiple top people in multiple WG regions.

If this would have happened without the whole homophobic and hate speech accusation by WG NA against Foch things wouldn't have been THIS bad. Jingles mentioned that WG EU was trying to fix the issue (yes they started it, still), before WG NA decides to come in unannounced and make things WORSE.

I know some of you here are Sabaton fans. And perhaps you know that the band members of Sabaton themselves are tank and WWII fans.

So you might be rather excited to hear that, FINALLY, Wargaming and Sabaton decided to team up and create something. That something is coming in the form of a sweet music video, and a Tier VIII Swedish medium tank, which features the band members themselves as the crew, and even their voicework!

World of Tanks 1.0 is due to be released in March 2018.

Confused? Didn't Wo T originally reach 1.0 and leave it's "beta" state a couple of years back? Well it did, but the engine was beginning to show it's age and needed an overhaul on several fronts. They've been gradually updating the tank roster to HD quality for more than a year now, and also prettied-up or re-designed several maps, but not to this extent. Heck, several of the maps are almost unrecognizable from their original form until you recognize the terrain layout resembles one of the maps you used to play.

Oh, and another thing... you can grab a free American Tier II T7 Armored Car and several free items (or a free garage slot if you don't like the tank...), if you punch in this promo code on Wargaming's Official website. Just make sure you're logged in first or else you won't be able to do so: it's

  • WTXMA-ABHK4-K9FNE.

EDIT: Ugh, the formatting for the TV Trope's Forums keeps screwing up the code.

[up]Actually, Wo T never got to 1.0, it just ditched the "0." prefix somewhere around 0.8.3. And the beta period ended with the game's release in august 2010.

It's only a replay viewer though, not a full-fledged AR game adaption. Still looks frigging sweet, and apparently Wargaming has even been hired out to help provide historical 3D interactive designs of famous tanks such as the Tiger I or Sturm Tiger.

Wow... nobody's posted on this thread in over a year.

Guess that makes this post all the more relevant. On an article recently posted by The Armored Patrol, one of the fansites that follows the speculation and potential future developments in Wargaming and their products, they quoted one of Wargaming's as saying "The peak of the project’s development has long been completed."

Oh, and apparently Wargaming gave up on trying to expand the Chinese tech tree due to their first discoveries being mostly luck - which proceeded to quickly run out. And the British Vickers company is rather difficult to work with when obtaining information on tank prototypes.

Granted, the English in that article is shoddy, and the site has a habit of jumping the gun on speculation, so don't go taking this as confirmation that the game is soon going to die. But it does show that Wargaming's management thinks Wo T is past its prime and is only going to lose players at this point. Instead, they want to put investment into some new MMO shooter they're developing called Caliber. Don't even ask me why Wargaming thinks trying to compete in the FPS MMO genre is a bright idea, the competition is ridiculous and it's playerbase infamously finicky.

Update 1.9 Patch notes

The biggest change is a major overhaul of the tech tree: Wargaming clearly doesn't want players to focus upon anything below Tier 5, since most of the tanks were effectively removed by turning them into "Collector's Tanks." They still exist within the game, but are no longer part of the tech tree, and need to be bought in a separate menu. Most tanks in the lower tiers also had their classifications or even tiers altered. They even removed several tanks higher up the tree, including the British Archer tank destroyer, the American T71 light tank, the Sherman E2 Jumbo, Soviet T-62A, and several others.

WOT is also celebrating their 10th anniversary, and the schedule is supposed to go on for several months... expect lots of grinding, as always.

There's a reason they showed off all of those previous gift tanks in the animation - it's because if you log on between now and October 12th, you'll unlock all of those, plus a 7th brand new Tier V British Medium tank, for free.

Oh, and you're just gonna LOVE which tank Wargaming chose to include - THE A38 VALIANT. Easily the greatest tank developed in THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF MANKIND. Take it from Lindybeige and The Chieftain, if you don't believe me!

The Black Market Merchant started selling his "Deals" a few days ago... Only, this time in addition to his unique merchandise being in limited supply, you now have to participate in community auctions to purchase it. Said auction, once you factor in the usual whales you'll encounter in MM Os, makes any sort of savings moot, especially if the currency involved is non-premium silver.

The community reaction is understandably a bit... Understatement upset with the state of this year's Black Market.

World of Tanks: Modern Armor

And why, WHY is Wargaming not taking the hint and applying this awesome idea to the PC version, instead of a bunch of stupid skins and Tier 10 events?!

These American YOH tanks have easily got to be the strangest concept tanks I've seen yet.

Their gimmick - aside from their utterly bizarre design choices - will be a reserve suspension system, which allows the tank to survive being tracked at least once WITHOUT using the repair kit, at the cost of a 30% speed reduction (and yet a further speed decrease if the other side of the suspension system takes damage).

Wargaming's Official Announcement

Wargaming (World of Tanks) announces decision to leave Russia and Belarus

Wargaming is about to lose a LOT of cash.

It's not set in stone yet, but Russian WOT servers may eventually be divorced from the global community and become their own entity, with another company called Lesta Studio at the helm.

Can't check to see if this is affecting World of Warships too since I'm currently at my job, but I suspect we'll hear a similar decision from them soon.

World of Tanks PC is getting these weird Chinese Heavies that have one of the more stranger innovations during the Cold War - miniature rocket boosters.

Yes, they’re obviously paper tanks, and yes, their design seems oddly modern too.
