I thought they hated DMC.
Episode 28 of Nomad Soul was really intense to listen to. The game's really getting to them.
Exactly. And I'd like a full playthrough so they can explain in excruciating detail why. They've done games they hate before. I mean look at the David Cage saga. Then there's... Reboot. And. Um... Actually I don't think they HATED any of them games prior to playing them. They went in blind and only realized they were awful after. I'm sure they've played a game they hate so they could rag on it, right?
They've explicitly said they don't hate DMC, and they've spoken about their feelings about it in a fair amount of detail. They think it's a middling spectacle fighter with very good visual design and some infuriating gameplay mechanics. They just think it's wholly unworthy of the Devil May Cry franchise.
IMO, their ambivalence towards it is nowhere near enough to fuel a playthrough.

So does this mean that Omikron is the new Final Fight Streetwise?
The Omikron intros are getting better and better.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. Now we're getting into The Ring shit or something like that XD
I haven't been watching Omnikron (building a buffer for when I'm doing something menial and want some videos to watch) but their thumbnails' slow descent into madness has been the highlight of my YouTube feed.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobSo this happened. Whatever it is.
Since they're playing through Sonic Unleashed and Woolie has brought up the Archie comics I feel like talking about them for a bit. First, you must realize that there was a Sonic cartoon. (There were technically two on the air at the same time, but the other has no bearing on this.) This show was popular and Archie comics started a comic based off it. However while the cartoon had a semi-serious tone, (some episode were darker than others,) the comic started off very slapstick. Over time the tone got more serious however. I read every issue from issue 38 to issue 87, including all the specials and the entirety of the Knuckles series.
Now, the comic was run by a guy by the name of Ken Penders for a long while and many new characters were introduced while he was in charge. However he had a falling out with Archie and then there was a lawsuit wherein Penders won the rights to all the characters that were introduced during his time in charge. That meant that most of the cast could no longer be used, except for the characters from the original cartoon, and of course the SEGA characters. Two characters, King Acorn and Nagus, who were both from the cartoon, were never given first names in the cartoon but were in the comics: Ixis Nagus and King Maximillion Acorn. Penders got the rights to these guy's first names as well. Now they are known as Walter Nagus and King Nigel Acorn. Now because Archie no longer had the rights to so many characters they did what DC would do, they wrote in a cosmic reboot. Since issue 252, the comics exist in a new continuity.
Really the only one I know got wiped with the reset was Geoffrey. Who else aside from Acorn and Naugus got removed?
No. Nagus and King Acorn did NOT get wiped by the reboot. Only their first names changed. THIS is a list of characters who got wiped by the continuity reboot.

Okay, so we lose Enerjak, the Suppression Squad, Elias, and Geoffrey out of the major characters, and all the alternate versions of Sonic and the others.
Some big losses, some not...shame though, I really did like Geoffrey.
You know who got shafted by the lawsuit? Knuckles. For a while there he was given his own comic series and was allowed to have his own supporting cast, his own villains and arch nemesis, and his backstory, or more specifically his family history and genealogy, was greatly expanded upon. And this was years before Sonic Adventure came out. When his series was cancelled the story arcs were continued for a while as secondary stories in the back of some Sonic issues, but eventually most of Knuckles supporting cast were mixed in with the main Sonic plot-lines. I think they stood better on their own, doing their own separate thing, and I have to admit, during the time when Knux did have his own series I thought it was better written than the Sonic issues at the time. Now, because of the Penders lawsuit, the only echidnas that can appear in the comic are Knuckles, Tikal and Pachacamac.
Which iteration of Geoffrey do you like? The Freedom Fighter who competed with Sonic for Sally's attention, the guy who wanted Elias in charge so he could tell the inexperienced ruler what to do and be "the real power behind the throne" and still hated Sonic, or the one who helped Ixis Nagus become king for reasons that were never explained?
So far I've only encountered the Freedom Fighter. I haven't gotten that far in the series, I need to start reading it again >.>

I love that the whole thing started because he said that the dark brotherhood was a ripoff of his ideas, but says shit like evil sonic is 100% his idea. like if he can claim evil sonic he really doesnt have a leg to stand on for his arguement over the dark brotherhood.
Wow, Panders crippled the original comic when he left.
I haven't read the Sonic comics for ages but i do know just a few tidbits like Sonic meets his Sonic Underground universe counterpart and his siblings, Sally in an arranged marriage and later becoming a cyborg.
I didn't know until now that the comics was getting a reboot due to a lawsuit. Sadly, one of the results of the reboots is that Sonic is not allowed to have a relationship due to a mandate by Sega. As a Sonic and Sally shipper since the cartoons, that's a bummer.
Thing is Penders left at about issue 159. The lawsuit only came about later because Sega released Dark Brotherhood and Penders claimed they were stealing his work. That's what triggered the lawsuit and led to the continuity reboot starting in issue 252.
Now while it is true that there are a bunch of new mandates from Sega such as not letting Sonic be in a relationship, or have relatives, this isn't actually that new. For a long time Sega has been interfering with the Archie comics. They would constantly shoot down anything that would make Sonic look "Uncool." This includes stuff like crying, or kissing girls. It's true that Archie has been able to sneak in this kind of thing from time to time, but Sega has gradually been clamping down on this stuff more and more until the reboot where they went full force with the mandates.
That stinks, Sonic showing emotions and having relationships made him more relatable. Having him be about "Speed speed speed speed!" just makes him seem callous. I remember one issue where he actually had a physical fight with Tails where Tails called him out about apparently not caring about what Tails thought and always leaving him out of everything important, and Sonic actually apologized, and said that he did it because he wanted to protect Tails from getting hurt.

Man, this sucks, I realized over the past few months that Matt is my favourite best friend, and videos/podcasts just aren't as good without him there.
I'm just glad we're so close to the end of Omikron. I mean, we have maybe one or two episodes left. That means they got it done before Matt took his break. Right?
They finished recording it yesterday, probably has something to do with him announcing today.
I would imagine he's been stressed out lately so he just needs a break.
I believe they're doing Sonic Unleashed next.
