Yeah I end up leaving nearly everyone behind when I bring the whole team.
Also Edelweiss feels a bit useless. Too fat and slow, even if it is effectively unkillable. So far.
And I've only really been leveling up scouts and snipers. Everyone else feels a bit eh classwise.

Oh really when? The Edelweiss gets more useful once you upgrade its accuracy (most other upgrades are worthless). It's also useful as mobile cover.
It's actually level 10 or 11 that they get the promotion.
Scouts and Shocktroopers get additional weapons from promotions. I think (but am fairly uncertain of) Lancers can equip mortar lances instead. Engineers and Snipers don't get anything really.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.I hate deserts. And how inaccurate my tank is. On par with recent models my ass.
Also I've gotten a few enemy weapons apparently, how do I equip them?
Oh really when? You change weapons at the barracks.
About the only advantage your tank has over the enemy tanks is that it also functions as a radio transceiver, allowing you to issue orders. In the first game, some of these can be outright gamebreakers.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.I will note that the Imperials do have long-range mortars; they're a map hazard in several campaign maps in VC1, notably the forest stealth mission and the second time you face Selvaria (aka Hit Selvaria In The Face With Tank Shells: The Game).
It's been fun. They're also in VC 2. There's even an enemy tank that blankets an entire map with rocket fire that decimates any enemy units (ie. yours) that aren't hidden in specifically marked trenches.
You can somewhat counter it by the fact that in VC 1, you can get an order that generates your own mortars, and in VC 2, you can get a tank turret that fires your own long-range mortars, but it's still unbalanced.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Oh, okay, I see. There's the short-range mortars that you put on lances, and the long-range mortars are like the ones we see in the real world.
Yes. It's just it's later in the game (which is understandable. I don't think new players would want to deal with this stuff on their third mission).
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Oh gross, the Imperial weapons are crap.
Also fuck that dude and his giant tank. And his giant kneepads. And her giant boobs. And everything.
I'm pretty sure I got a vague idea how to win now though. Probably.
Oh really when?^This is the appropriate reaction to and opinion of Maximilian and Selvaria.
It's been fun.Yeah. Imperial Weapons. Good power, but poor at everything else. VC 2 had such better weapon drops.
Selvaria can't kill your tank with interception fire. Unless she goes for the radiator, but she prefers to hang out by Maximillian's tank. Feel free to use the Edelweiss to distract her from gunning down people going for the radiators.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Selvaria like to hang around the Batomys' back left. Keep that in mind when positioning.
Scouts can climb up the Batomys' ladder and lob a grenade in it's open exhaust ports for instant destruction. Better than blasting it with lancers. You'll still need lancers to actually destroy the thing after you blow its ports though.
#IceBearForPresidentI never got the "orders are gamebreakers" thing. I'm pretty sure I A-ranked everything (or almost everything) without using them. Always seemed like Useless Useful Spells to me.
The first game was for PS 3, but the sequel and sidequel were both for the PSP, and the latter was never localized.
The sequel was available on the PSTV but for some reason got taken off, which sucks >_<
Awaken Potential makes it almost guaranteed that you'll trigger potentials. On someone with only good potentials (Like Alicia), it makes them a one-man army.
Defend orders reduce damage taken by a ridiculous degree. Penetrate means that enemy tanks suddenly have to worry about infantry gunfire.
And Retreat allows you to redeploy a lost unit who aren't close enough to an allied camp to run.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Hmm, I feel like I started with the wrong people and I wasn't smart enough to save before the battle so now I'm stuck with them.
Curse my unhealthy love of snipers.
Oh really when?Killed the big tank. Lost Catherine though.
Oh really when?Yeah, I don't think I have ever used a defend order or even felt that it would be helpful. The game is remarkably accommodating of my RPG philosophy that the best defense is to just kill everyone with basic offensive options. Retreat has some utility, but that's about it.
Case in point - the Batomys. I simply took down the guns with lancers, hurled grenades in the holes, and had anyone left hide from Selvaria in trenches or behind the Edelweiss. No orders required.

Well, to be completely honest and fair.
I didn't actually think the defend orders were that effective, but someone else was swearing them as the best thing ever. I've used them, and can confirm they make a difference, but you still don't want to have people running down interception fire unless they have a good reason to.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. Why does this game have a stealth mission? Who thought this was a good idea?
And why can't I have magic silenced rifles that lower defenses?
And how do I get past that immortal asshole?
Oh really when?
For more tips: 99.9 percent of the time it's a bad idea to field a whole team at the start. Only field Alicia, Rosie, and Largo, and maybe an extra scout. When you capture camps you can field new troops from there, saving you CP from having to move everyone up.
When you level a class up to 8 or 12 that class becomes an elite. Being an elite allows a larger movement bar. So don't try to keep your classes even leveled; focus on getting one (scouts) elite first before making another elite.
With a few exceptions it's usually better to never move your tanks.
