So... this is australia?

My thoughts, and the thoughts of every Australian with half a working brain; "Fuck off to China, Cuntroy."

Bastard doesn't deserve the dignity of being addressed properly.

Oh....

Uh, Starscream, the poster was referring to a similar court case in Australia, that, if you read the link, for some reason may have been cited as precedent in a US Court case. It wasn't a derogatory remark towards Australia.

It wasn't cited as precedent because the guy pleaded guilty.

Ah, right. But the point is Breadloaf wasn't dissing Australia, if Starscream took it that way.

It's actually from the US. Idaho, to be specific. A 2008 case in Australia was mentioned only as a reference.

...so how can you be charged for child porn of cartoons? I mean first off their not fucking people. Secondly how do you determine their age? Do you go by how long it has been on the air? Cuz the simpsons have been on the air for like 30 years now.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

"They're" not fucking people. They're fucking other cartoons.

If nothing else, it could be obscenity.

^^ Please, convince everyone to vote for the idiot who wants to implement a national censor to completely frak up the National Broadband Plan (which itself I'm pretty doubtful about) and keep our internet speeds in the gutter. Did I mention that the Black- and White-lists will only be available to the Government, so that we'll have no idea what we're missing, and that they basically give a Government that produced Tony 'who needs Internet' Abbot complete control over the Internet to the everyman who doesn't have access to Proxy servers?

Frak me, trade with China seems to be trading ideals on censorship as well.

Huh? What does China have anything to do with this? You can blame foreigners for your own government being a dick to its citizens? That's pretty amazing.

Let's face it, your censorship is caused by Australians and people like that politician, not by Chinese, not by trade it's by Australian politicians.

The worst part is that this censorship is likely worse than the Great Firewall of China because both of you censor a whole lot of English websites. The main difference is that Australians read/speak english, the Chinese don't. Guess who gets affected more by the same censorship.

I wonder if they will change the name of the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy to Thinkpol.

^^I was taking the piss out of Australia's trading with China. For the record, I don't hate China, but I don't approve of many of their actions either. I was simply implying that the country was starting to take a page out of China's book in a sarcastic, mocking way.

Oh... well it's hard to tell on the internet.

Why can't we just lay off censorship. I don't understand how this trial got past preliminary hearings.

Because Australia's dealings with China have nothing to do with silly porn cases, and threads in this forum are supposed to (mostly) stay on the original topic.

... they might have something to do with it, though; maybe the idea is that trade with China erodes their respect for individual dignity through cognitive dissonance or something?

Also, the case in question was in Idaho. Not Australia.

Indeed, if we're going to bash something about Australia, lets bash the legal system which set the precedent for this case.

Because I just want to say that I think this whole ordeal is pants-on-head retarded.

Well, the article stated that the man in Australia was actually convicted. There is still a glimmer of hope that the case in Idaho does not follow the same route.
