I don't think he was all that concerned with Valant's career so much as he wanted to make sure his daughter got the performance rights no matter what. Yeah, Zak wrote the "confession" seven years after the fact for Valant's sake, but that doesn't really put him in the clear.

What I'm concerned about is that he knew Phoenix was given the fake page by his daughter. He was standing right there! If he had given the real page then and there, Phoenix would have been fine. But the problem was that there was no witness to the will transferring the rights and he just wanted to keep it safe for Trucy no matter what.

Sometimes life just sucks. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. Why should you expect anything different in the mediums?

Well, if he'd given the page to Phoenix and tipped him off about the other one, then Phoenix would've presented it, Klav would've called him out and brought in Drew, it would've been discovered to be genuine, and Trucy would've gotten the rights anyway because it'd be proven to be his handwriting and such. ARGH. WHY ZAK WHY.

@Rhyme Beat : Well, it was far from a concrete statement, and even the article pointed that out. And, to be quite frank, I'd prefer Takumi to work on new I Ps. It's clear that he doesn't have the same enthusiasm about the franchise he had, and I can understand it, at a certain point you want to change.

I was always under the impression that Zak was off doing something else when Trucy gave Nick the page, and didn't notice.

^ I don't know, that part never bothered me. I'm pretty sure that if Zak was supposed to notice Trucy giving Nick the page the devs would have made it clearer.

So I think on court records it was mentioned that Shu Takumi considered AA over with Apollo justice - but fan support has made him consider gs5. Does anyone think that Takumi being forced to do a sequel may make it not quite as good? I mean he was keen to move on to ghost trick. In any case I hope he does, for one because apollo was never quite as developed as phoenix by the end of his first game. Also ending on the possibility that phoenix might stay a hobo is a little harsh for such an awesome character.

In any case, I'd like to see some proper closure to the series than Apollo justice. Although I hope Takumi being forced to do another one won't result in mgs2 style treatment. And finally - what was with franziska constantly whipping edgeworth in aai? I thought she respected him and stuff and I think she only whipped him once in T&T to snap him out of a bsod, so it really seemed out of character that she treated edgeworth like phoenix. That and the fact that the plot didn't seem to have much personal relevance or character development for edgeworth (I guess that's what happens when you have a fully developed character) were the only reasons I didn't enjoy AAI as much as the others (although it does have the best gameplay aspects out of all of them)

When has the development team ever indicated that they were tired of the series? Odds are it's just taking some time to adapt the Ace Attorney series to the new trial system.

About the Gramarye situation I've always wondered where she got it from and why Phoenix didn't call her to confirm that he was unaware of the forgery ( before he adopted her of course).

From Court Records: The original article actually says that he considered the Ace Attorney series done with "Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney", but that the fans are making him reconsider. Textually, he says that "the fans' acclaim are making me stop and think about a series I considered finished." He then says that he really likes the Ghost Trick experience (hinting, maybe, that he wants to continue that series), but that the fans' reaction to Ace Attorney are making him think everything through. He actually asks the reporter "what should I do?", as in "should I continue with Ghost Trick or with Ace Attorney?".

Also I read that Takumi didn't actually work on AAI (which probably explains the out of character franziska IMO)- and may not be working on AA 5 either.

How could Takumi have considered AJ the end? What about the obvious loose ends?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Not to mention the lack of character development on Apollo's part that suggested he would do that in sequels.

If he wanted to end the series I would have gone with Trials and Tribulations. Apollo Justice had a very blantant Sequel Hook in Lamoirs reunion with her children and again our complete lack of backstory for Apollo.

I think when he said that he was afraid that Executive Meddling may rear it's head again. And he wouldn't work on it if they wanted to interfere that much again.

I don't think it was OOC for her to whip Edgeworth. She had to whip someone after all.

I don't think it was harsh how Wright ended up either, he did alot of good after all.

^ um for the first one I just meant cause franziska never really whipped edgeworth before whereas even in the childhood memories she's slashing him like crazy, it just seemed like her character was being reduced to a whipping gimmick, dunno must've just been me.

for the second bit, Phoenix is my favourite character so naturally I wanted him to return to law. He might be a badass now, but the fact that he acts so carefree about returning to court or maybe taking up piano lessons...I just felt like if Shu Takumi considered the series over with AJ then he should've at least made it a lot clearer about what Phoenix's future should be like (did I mention he should return to law?)

Dammit.

I wasn't that big a fan of how much AAI felt like it was just going through the motions and hoping appeals to the fanbase would make up for it.

I just want another Apollo game already.

AA 5 likely won't be released until well into the 3DS's life cycle.

I'm also willing to bet money that we don't see an English release before 2012.

I actually liked AAI, as fanservice-y as it was it still felt less forced than Apollo Justice with its 'let's add Phoenix just to connect it with the original trilogy and focus all the game on him' plot (I would have liked the game much more if they just focused on a totally new cast since most of the new characters weren't bad and probably just need fleshing out, especially Apollo). I don't really see the need for a sequel though.

Favourite game: Ace Attorney 1. DAMON GANT WILL RAPE YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!!!

Also if no one will, then I'll post the Hiimdaisy comics. Zak Gramarye IS A JERK is the best summary for Ace Attorney.

Favourite character is Miles Edgeworth. He tries so hard to be The Unfunny but... it never lasts.

^^^^ See, I felt Apollo was more successful in trying to branch out. Even with the Phoenix arc, it was still telling a fresh storyline with new characters.

AAI seemed to try to shoehorn every character in the series into the same game, often to the detriment. The last case in the game, no spoilers, will not end until practically every minor character has a moment to stop the true culprit. It took bloody forever.

It's also not much better about the stupid case logic - for instance, when the last case had Kaye accused of a murder and Edgeworth never brings up that he was with her during the time the crime would have had to take place. No, you have to do a long stupid sequence where you re-enact everything to get her off the hook.

I also loathed everything related to Shi-Long Lang. He had no logical motivation to be a complete jack ass. And concerning his first appearence where he manhandles Meekins, well, his entire method of "investigation" appears to be "I'm going to arrest the nearest person and be antagonistic to the people whose jobs would be to secure me a conviction!". It's no wonder his backstory involves a prosecutor screwing him over. No prosecutor would be able to win a case from a guy that openly proclaims in front of witnesses (and the suspects, if I remember right) that he's not concerned with arresting the right person. It's also really obnoxious that after Apollo Justice successfully changed the dynamic of the main character-opponent relationship (since Apollo and Klavier were mostly friendly) that they reverted back to an antagonistic relationship.

Also, what a waste of Manfred von Karma. If you're going to make fanservice, make good fanservice.

The ending : no doubt, it was exaggerated and felt tiring. I am not sure whether I prefer this or the anticlimatic Apollo Justice's ending.

Stupid case logic : it's pretty much a staple of the series unfortunately.

Shi-Long Lang : Eeeeeeh, can't say I agree with you on the hate, but that may be just because his theme song was so FUCKING AWESOME. I found it pretty baffling how they didn't explain his backstory in the game though. Maybe they were saving it for the sequel?

But overall, yeah, that's all sound criticism, I am not going to disagree with you on that Rebochan. I still find AAI a more satisfying experience overall though, because I was expecting a fanservice-y spin-off, not a sequel that should live up to its predecessors.

I wonder if Kay will be involves in AAI-2? Usually each lawyer gets one eprky femal sidekick throughout his games right?

But my main problem with Shi-Long-Lang is that his opposition to prosecutors (who he's supposed to work with) made no sense.
