I do feel a bit sad with how little courtroom-time Athena's been getting in this game, but that's to be figured after DD, which was a game that was essentially all about her.

Plus, I saw it more as Phoenix finally being able to foist shit onto other people after a life-time of being foisted upon himself. I mean, think what the man had to endure while Trucy was growing up!

Well, here's hoping Athena gets to take spotlight next game. Apollo and Phoenix have had their lead roles now.

It's not that I wanted this game to be about her again. I agree the game is better as Apollo's story mostly. But I feel she gets shafted even from support positions in this game.

Trucy is clearly salty about being shunted from the support position after the fourth game and intends to drag Athena down with her.

...why do the Asinine Attorney skits allow you to skip dialogue spoken in flashbacks but the entire rest of the game doesnt >_>

[up] That's a fair point, it is a pretty Asinine decision on their part.

So my first reaction on certain character in Turnabout Time Traveler once they stated their job:

"Fricking butler did it"

I'm so convinced that it won't be a red herring this time [lol]

[up][up][up]I know, right?

Next game, if they're unwilling to cut back on gratuitous flashbacks, I at least hope they include an option to disable most of them in the menu. Would be a simple enough script skip, like the optional tutorials.

There IS an option to make it so you can hold down B to get through text faster, even on your first time through.

Yeah, but then you don't know what text you haven't already seen, and you might skip through a statement with dramatic timing. tongue

Second reason I suspect the butler is that no way they do "pretty anime bishie young butler" straight without anything goofy about them tongue So either they are villain or they have hidden weird side that shows up if they are red herring

This game really needs a sound test option to listen to the music.

Here's a post from the head of the localization team about the DLC case, what the developers plan to do after Spirit of Justice, and the fourth case. One thing it revealed is that the fourth case was indeed intentionally designed to be a Breather Episode.

I skipped the DLC section since I'm still playing that, but all that stuff on Episode 4 was neat. Honestly that might be my favorite case in the game just for how bizarre and unashamed it is of being both filler and excessively-Japanese.

So it turns out the writers write So J's ending not to write out Apollo, but to see if the fandom is interested in the setting enough for future games to take place there? At least that's the sense I get.

To be honest I don't want to see Khura'in again. It was a neat setting for one game but there's so little variety to it beyond temples and religious sanctuaries, and the only native character I'm interested in seeing again is Datz and he's not even an actual native.

Regardless of what direction the next game takes, ending this game with Apollo and Trucy in separate countries while acknowledging the long-unresolved "they're actually siblings" plotline at the same time did not strike me as a very smart thing to do. >_>

I feel regardless of what happens for the future that's going to be resolved next game. It should have been resolved in the Magical Turnabout but I digress.

One thing that occurred to me is that, as of this game, Apollo now has his own equivalents to pretty much all of Phoenix's classic cast. Nahyuta is Edgeworth, Datz is Larry, Dhurke is Mia, Ema is Gumshoe. I guess the one thing he needs is his own dedicated assistant to take the Maya spot. It's probably not going to be Athena, so maybe once Trucy hears about the siblings thing she'll go to Khura'in and start operating out of Apollo's office? Or maybe it'll be Ahlbi.

im completely fine with apollo staying in khura'in. it never really came across as an attempt to write him out, especially due to the stinger quite explicitly making clear they still intended to deal with the trucy/apollo relation thing. it seemed like a decent enough idea tbh. 3 attorneys for each game seemed a bit cramped, and athena only got 1 case to really shine (the worst case imo). now apollo can have his own game again, and athena can go back to a starring role since its clearly much easier for the writers to balance 2 attorneys rather than 3.

i dont think theres really an issue with khura'in that isnt present with japanerica. the setting is only really defined by whats relevent in each case. the first ace attorney game really didn't have much of a setting outside of a lake and a tv studio. khura'in only had temples, a street and a palace so far, but obviously it'll have more than just that if they intend to make another game there.

i have been hoping that since ema is basically in khura'in for the foreseen future, we might get gumshoe back for the next phoenix/athena game. unless they introduce a new detective again.

edit: oh but i will admit khura'in is a very small place just going by the fact that for the 3 cases taking place there are all within the same general area, whereas each case in ace attorney 1 had a different location with multiple areas to investigate. tbh tho, ace attorney 6's story is largely around a revolution, so it makes sense everything would be taking place at the center of the country.

I'm disappointed there wasn't a scene of Trucy and Maya meeting. A serious scene. You know, the daughter getting upset because the father after so many years of just the two of them starting to spend time with a different woman could have been great.

I didn't like the ending with Apollo leaving. I never liked that after a whole game of building Apollo and his own cast up he got sidelined by Phoenix and Athena and then got shipped of a country with a much less likable cast. he better come back in the next game.
