Don't think so, I think I have fought her.

[up]The mod is just a separate exe with a different name, so it doesn't affect the game itself. And it doesn't break compatibility for save files either, since it saves all its extra stuff in another file.

I have it too. I also have a version of Hero Core where you can only use the blade, found it on the Iji Game FA Qs board. :p

Just finished my Kill 'Em All playthrough, where I turned Iji into a bloodthirsty maniac, uncaring who she kills, as long as she's the one that kills them! (Damn Annihilators, stealing my kills!) The only exception being the one Tasen soldier you need to keep alive to get into Deep Sector. And I fought every boss with sheer firepower. Even Maximum Charge Tor. Normal difficulty, I should clarify. It was also my attempt to find every collectable, though I ended up missing the last two ribbons, dagnabit!

Ulti, I tip my hat to you, this is an awesome game. The battle with Asha rates as one of my favourite boss battles of all time, and Face to Face is an excellent boss tune. I must also admit a bit of shame getting to Sector Z and reading your logbook about having the dedication to discover this secret, considering I needed your very guide for most of it. Hopefully the fact I took the time to play it and was interested in seeing what was there makes up for my lack of independence and determination.

Thank you, it means a lot even if you used a guide. :) In hindsight I regret there were some secrets the game never hinted at.

Trigger, that post reminded me of all the great times I've had playing Iji. I remember seeing some kids in school playing that, and I was like, "What is this game? It looks awesome" My friend told me where to get it, I was hooked, thanks for the good times, Ulti excuse me while i go on a killing spree, I'm gonna beat this thing in an hour and a half.

Glad I could remind you of playing it.

Ulti, I was wondering something. Did you have any particular inspiration for the storyline twist that Earth was Origin, the original homeworld for the Komato? As well, I must admit I find myself a little curious as to why. Outwardly, it's mentioned a few times, but nothing seems to directly come from it storywise. The Tasen could have easily been an alien race with no ties to earth, they just happened to pick it as their last hiding place.

Of course, thinking about it, It could bring the point that the Komato are so war-hungry that they're perfectly willing to destroy the planet they originally came from, simply because there might still be a few Tasen on it.

^ It was partly to justify/avert the trope of the Tasen and Komato resembling humans, and yes, that they don't care about sentiments like their homeworld. Besides that, it mostly just leaves plot holes about why they never stayed there while expanding. And logically, wouldn't Origin be at the center of their empire? It makes little sense expanding mostly in one direction and not spherically outwards.

PS: I'd appreciate the help from anyone with Twitter to retweet this, or reallyjoel will get the better of me :)

Honestly, the oddity of leaving their homeworld wasn't the plothole that came to my mind. I was thinking more that there would have been remains of a hyper-advanced civilization buried somewhere. Though I suppose that could be described as them being so thorough in their exodus that they took EVERYTHING with them. (Scan the planet. We aren't leaving a single plastic wrapper behind! Or those heavily armed Environmentalists will have a talk with us.) Or everything was biodegradable... But a minor problem, really.

Indeed, battling Maximum Charge Tor without using the Resonance Reflector does make one feel awesome. While I prefer the setup for the second Asha battle, I do agree battling a massive heavily armed mech while the planet destroying lasers warm up in the background, with an utterly epic song playing... One of the best boss battles I've ever played.

Well, it's not like they necessarily had to be a hyper-technological race before leaving Origin. Maybe just enough for space travel, and then the nanofield tech and whatnot came after they'd gone and settled somewhere else.

Actually we know the nanotech came after they left, because they stole it from somebody else who'd suffered Zentraidon (aka a civilization who'd destroyed themselves somehow, probably through war). I... think that's canon?

^ It's mentioned in two logbooks in Sector 8 I believe. But being able to travel outside the solar system pretty much requires extremely advanced technology anyway. :p The intention was for the Komato to be experts of space travel and bioengineering, but not much else, before discovering the zentraidon'd alien planet.

At first, I remember that I was going to joke about the crazies who think that aliens built the pyramids, and let the Komato be those "aliens" who left such traces on Earth. But it would be difficult making clear what I was parodying (nevermind that it's supposed to be a joke). So yeah, I guess they left so long ago there was little trace left. Or it's a plot hole :p

If they were abandonment completely for a thousand years or two you would probably have trouble telling with the naked eye if a given patch of earth had held a modern city or not, as everything would decay completely by that point. You'd probably be able to at least raise some suspicions by examining the distribution of, say, metals in the fossil record and how oddly they seemed to be grouped together. Not to mention, well, fossils. Though we probably just mistook them for small dinosaurs.

WMG: The species we know as the "Velociraptor" were really the Komato.

I dunno, I feel like if we have been unable to detect traces of their civilization, they would probably be even older than that or their technology was set to self destruct completely after leaving Earth.

Brickman: Haha, I know how outspoken Master Hand is about wanting the Komato to be dinosaurs. :) Really though, the game just says that they were related to humans, not how closely. The only problem with them being dinos is that after such an extremely long time, one would expect them to have advanced considerably further.

[up] Yeah, that's me. As someone who originally assumed they were evolved velociraptors (and Deceased Crab making such an assumption in one of his videos), I'm naturally a dino-Komato purist, so when I heard they were supposed to be hominids, my immediate thought was "...what the fuck?". Granted, knowing that they're genetically altered makes it make more sense, given that part of my initial problems was how despite being hominids they looked just like raptors, but still, how do you say no to velociraptors in spaceships?

On this note, I do have plans for where I'm taking my other MSPA, Pulp Archaeologist Adventure (which is where Franz comes from), and I was thinking that the final segment would take place in the ruins of a long-lost sunken Komato city, AKA Atlantis. That would be how I'd bridge the two stories, apart from an anecdote I put in about Franz accidentally starting the Tasen-Komato War by sending off a transmission with the Crystal Skull and Graf von Kataiser's name (I'll admit, I've always thought that "Kataiser" sounded like the name of an evil Prussian aristocrat. As if there's any other kind.)

Aaaand I'm rambling again.

I wonder what's for dinner?

Yes, you are rambling. About fanfiction. The worst kind of rambling.

On a serious note, I really don't have much to say other than, assuming that [up][up]you are actually the creator of the games and not some internet masquerader, I really enjoyed your games. Especially Iji. It would still be impressive if it was just a simple play-it-once kind of game, but the sheer amount of replay value is really impressive. Thank you.

^By this point the only way he could possibly be only masquerading as Daniel Remar is if the impostor was also in cahoots with Daniel Remar. Which is actually a pretty cool idea for something to try once just to see if it'll work, but probably not the case here.
