I oncw had this idea started a thread for it but now it's more developed and I wan't to see if it can work.

After countless eons of gain less war the forces of Heaven and Hell realized the reason that neither side was making progress was because both sides have long ago thought all the thoughts they can think of, God and Satan have literally thought, seen, heard and tried everything there is. So Lucifer and Yahweh decided to create an entirely new kind of being, by each of them imbuing two unborn souls with an appreciably sized fraction of their powers and sent them to be born on the same day, at the same time in the same small town. It was expected that as they grew up and their powers unfolded they would hate each over and one would murder the other (winner's progenitor get's the cosmos) but they didn't. In fact as soon as they come into contact in preschool they become really good friends, bonding over their extra normal powers; instead of their intended purpose they used their power for kid's stuff. As the years go by shit get's rather weird, God and Satan decide to intervene, and various powerfule figures get involved. By the way the kid's names are Alma (God child) and Lucias (the Satan child)and their history teacher is Death. Sound like a good idea? And should their town know about their powers?

and their history teacher is Death.

I find this both Awesome and Hilarious.

Satan's kid could use a better name though.

Any thoughts on a name? And do you think it'd be more fun for the fellow townspeople to know of their powers? Also what do you think would be the differences between Alma and Lucias' (new name pending) powers? I kinda wan't them to be on an equal playing field. Also the archangel Gabriel is a homeless bum that lives near their school.

[up]

Penelope? or were you looking for gender neutral?

It could go either way really, It'd be tricky to do so without insulting someone or becoming a religious rant but I'd go for the open knowledge thing.

I'd be kind of ironic if god's kid was a jerk with good powers and vice versa but If I were you I'd go for alignment neutral powers that could be used either way think the Green lantern or Full metal alchemist and insert an insane amount of creativity.

Angel's as homeless bums has been done (you could do it well for all I know) but if you wanted equality you'd have to have a equally powerful demon/devil/whatever also on the scene. If I were you I'd have them take out a restraining order on all supernatural activity within X distance.

The devil kid's a boy. And what could be a good way of averting Bullying a Dragon? So you mean they should have the same general powers? And what kind of powers should the kids have? Also what do you think would be a likely relationship dynamic between the children and their (biological not divine) parents would be like? And I don't know what Fullmetal Alchemist is I'm afraid. Also would it make sense for the pair to be able to summon the dead back to life, Alma can bring people back from Heaven, Lucias from Hell, as one of their abilities? And do you think it'd be more interesting for the kids to know the origin of their powers or not?

Still what would be the most likely reaction to being classmates with two supernaturally powered beings? Any opinion what kinda powers they should have?

Satan's kid's name- Lucius, or maybe Lucian. {Close to Lucifer.}

Also, God's name- Jethro for boy, Josephie for girl. {Closest to Jehovah I could find.}

Powers:

God- Telepathy, empathy, 'smiting powers' (lightning bolts and flame generation), a small amount of mtter generation, minor Reality Warping.

Satan- Hypnotism, empathy, telepathy, sexual powers (like a succubus).

Any help?

Heh, my brother's named Lucien and I called him Lucifer to get to him, enough times.

A brighter future for a darker age.

Hmm, those are good but the Devil kid could use a few more unique abilities. And how minor is minor? And Lucian sounds good.

If I had a brother called Lucien, I would too. Oh, we're horrible people.

I'm mostly going on the typical image of Satan as a corrupter. He tries to make you fall, give into temptation.

So, maybe... Verbal compulsions, too?

And minor is- like, he might be able to pass around a loaf of bread and a fish and be able to make it last long enough to feed fifty one people nd still have a full loaf of bread and a fish, but he can't create a stone wall in front of him. Or he might be able to make a tree bigger, or a stone wall tougher, but s/he can't generate a person out of nowhere.

Perhaps the ability to twist and corrupt things physically? Some illusion generating power perhaps? What could be some childish things that they could do with their gifts? Still how do you think their classmates would act around them? Oh and the God kid is a girl and the Satan kid is a boy.

Illusion is good. As to physically corrupt things- I'd say Reality Warping to a lesser extent than God's child.

As to the others? I don't know. They're your characters- I'm not going to say what they should do or how they should react.

Some weaknessess- God's child should be weakened in the presence of people who worship different gods. She would be at her normal levels of power around people who don't worship any gods, and boosted in power by people who believe in her god; but severely weakened by people who worship a different god. Also, the girl would be weakened by being near people who are affected by the Seven Sins, or by people who have committed a crime agaist the Ten Commandments and have not sought forgiveness for it.

{Seven Sins: Sloth, Avarice, Gluttony, Wrath, Lust, Envy and Pride.}

Satan- Only really gains power when he's in the process of corruption. Otherwise, he's limited to empathy and telepathy. Also, being in the presence of someone who worships a god- any god- should weaken him.

Still what's minor reality warping? And what age do you think they should get their powers? And what abilities could they gain as they get older, surpassing God and Satan is a plot point.

Warping reality to a minor extent.

Making a plant grow faster, changing the colours of objects, turning oak into mahogany, stuff like that.

God's kid's would be more geared towards helping people, granting their wishes and desires, while Satan's kid's would be more geared towards getting people to do what he wants them to- making them see what they want to see, tempting them towards falling.

Any opinion on how common should knowledge of their abilities be? And what could be a good way of deconstructing popular images of Satan and God? And do you think the Devil kid could have the ability to grant desires but (wether he wants to or not) taints the results?

First- No comment.

Second- Oh, this one's fun.

If I was looking for a way to play with God and Satan's image... I would portray Gos as an Eldritch Abomination. A benevolent one; but if you were ever to actually see His true form, you would likely die instantly, with your brais melting out your ears. That's why you must accept His existence on faith; because he literally cannot provide proof without endangering us.

Satan- would likely have rebelled, believing that there's no way they can really kill people by allowing them to see the Angels. Later, he finds out that this notion is actually true; but his Pride will not allow him to sek God's forgiveness- although God is willing to accept him back, if he apologizes.

Tempt corrupt people into falling. Then, once they've fallen, abandon them- no money, no loved ones, just a miserable wreck crying on a street corner.

What could be something a little kid might try if he was being nice? And what kinda things do you think a child might conceivably use these powers for? As well as the God powers.
