My roommate and I both finished it today. I finished as he was starting the last level, so I saw the ending (we both got the same one) twice.

Wow. Just...holy crap.

Just finished it today as well. I might replay the last bit because people kept calling me so I couldn't really enjoy it all in one proper go. Jeez it's a saturday night, don't y'all know that means video games???????

Anyway, yeah, shit got really real toward the end and it was amazing. The beginning I was like "oh that's pretty cool" but then as soon as Ruck started trying to justify how I was destroying the animal bastion for the "good of the world" I was like "oooooooooooooh snap what am I doing :(" and by the end I had no choice but to pick up Zulf and wow that was a great way to finish off the last level

i feel the endings were a little imbalanced though

the evacuation ending just seems a good deal more desirable than the other...

I wound up picking it, but that was after about five minutes of staring at my monitor, then going over to my roommate's desk and watching him play the first quarter of the last level while I thought about it.

I'll probably do a new game plus to see if the hard reset is that bad of a deal. I mean, the entire game is all about how the past comes back to haunt you, and Rucks implies that this reset, while there is nothing that is stopping the calamity from happening again, implies that you go back with some variables changed

according to a friend, rucks makes a few mentions of deja vu every now and then but its otherwise unchanged.

i dislike it because of the possibility of everything becoming worse

judging from ruck's description of the Hard Reset, no one remembers, and if the new gameplus is anything to go by, at most they will get Deja Vu. that means worst case scenario, zia's father sets off the calamity again, either ruck or the kid (or both) die during the calamity, and zia and zulf spend the rest of their life despairing, and being stuck in place.

the only way the restoration ending would be viable for me is if you dont save zulf, but then, that isnt up to luck or anything.

also, the evacuation ending has everyone as sky pirates.

I ordered the soundtrack CD, because this game blew my mind enough for me to spend an extra $15 on it.

Yeah I went ahead and just got the package deal on Steam and don't regret getting that soundtrack.

Also I started a new game plus and despite me choosing to go on adventures instead of resetting, Rucks still has some deja vu. Also playing with a keyboard and mouse is wacky. I'll need to plug my controller back in, although I really do like this whole precise aim thing going on.

Just finished the first play of this, in many ways one of my favorite games ever. Brushers Pike and Duelling Pistols ftw.

I go Pike and Shotgun.

Also, now that I'm like one third of the way through my second playthrough, I just realized I can swap between upgrades instead of just going down a linear path.

mind = blown. (and weapons reoptimized)

My personal favorite weapon is the Breaker's Bow, and my old standby is Bow and Machete. On the other hand, I picked up [up][up] to beat Who Knows Where 3, and I pretty much fell in love with those two as well.

Am I the only one who thinks the only really lackluster weapon is the Mortar? Especially with the Cannon coming in later?

Not a huge fan of the pike. I went machete and musket up until I got the Calamity Cannon.

Personally I'm a fan of the Bellows and Cannon. I love the ability to completely ignore armour and toast things, and the cannon helps me blow away anything too tough for my bellows.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

Yeah, that's the combo I used once I got the cannon.

i went machete bow at first, primarily using the bow

then i got the musket and replaced the bow.

realised that was stupid, replaced the machete with the bow

then i replaced the bow with the rifle. rifle ftw once you've sped it up

A fully upgraded pike can pierce armor, which is pretty snazzy.

But yeah, I tend to go with the pike and musket because I tend to just turtle then counter or roll to flank, and both those weapons have good damage and no charge up, so all I have to worry about is my offensive maneuvering instead of making breathing room. Spam weapons are fun (tried out pistols and musket for a while, and that was great) but my playstyle in like all games relies on a single strong attack before moving along.

^yeah, the full upgraded rifle is pretty snazzy, too. Thinking about doing pike/rifle.

I finished the game a week ago and now am replaying it with every god from the shrine.

God, it's hard enough to make me pick the musket and mortar combination.

Bought this a few days ago after ch00beh recommended it and I played the demo. Love it.

So far I've seen a use for all the weapons except the dueling pistols. They sucked when I got them compared to my mostly-upgraded hunting rifle, musket, or bow, and even after upgrades they don't impress me compared to the other ranged stuff.

I just completed the part where the Ura attack the Bastion and now I'm sad that two of my animals died. Is the mailbox actually used for anything later?

Current combo is the pike and Ura hunting rifle, both fully upgraded.

Dueling pistols are great for spam since it fires as fast as you can mash the attack button.

But the repeater does too, with a much larger potential clip and homing. Only drawback is having to stand still, but the homing means I can arc around cover if I have to.

I might try the dueling pistols again once I earn the money to unlock their last couple of upgrades.

I feel like the repeater doesn't hit as hard and doesn't actually fire as fast as the pistol, but I never really used it so I can't say.

The repeater does less damage and doesn't fire quite as fast, but has more ammo.

For me it was a toss up between the two, since they do essentially the same thing. Pistols killed stuff a bit faster if you didn't have to reload, but it's not like the repeater was slow, after all.

I hate the machete. The idea was nice, but they really missed the mark with the whole "thrown weapon" idea. There is no point where a thrown melee weapon is actually useful if you have any of the ranged weapons. Which you should always have from the prologue on, so. . .

The thrown machete (and pike) does an above average chunk of damage, if I remember correctly, and is faster than some other weapons - if you need power and range in a pinch and don't have the capacity to switch atm, sometimes it's better to interrupt your melee storm and do a quick but deadly throw rather than leaving yourself open by using your solely-for-range weapon.
