Hot Topic really failed when the movie first came out, they could've been selling fake band t-shirts of bands from the movie and so forth.

Instead they were selling t-shirts with stupid stuff like "Just another evil-ex waiting to happen" and another one with a picture of Scott and Ramona that made the movie look like a Twilight rip-off.

The only good thing they were selling was the soundtrack.

I bet the soundtrack would have sold better if they had that Fairy-Fountain song on there. Too bad Nintendo is serious with their rights.

The game is worth playing, especially with friends.

@Null: Pffft. Since when have Hot Topic done anything right? That place is a steaming pile, always has been.

Man damn them.

Anyways this is one of my fave films of all time (I also have the first three books. It's hard to find them in Australia). It handles everything so well and still be so damn fun and awesome.

I considered watching this but after hearing this has became one of the biggest box office flops in recent history, I don't feel so sure. It wasn't even played in the theatre in my city.

I heard a lot of good things about this series and why did it flop so hard?

You really should give it a look, but the comic is infinitely superior.

[up] Unless it can be found in the internet, there's no way for me to read it.

Unfortunate. If you could find it in a used book store or a swap meet...

If you don't have access to comics, you don't have legal access to movies either.

Don't watch the movie unless you get to a place where you can buy or rent it legally.

As for your wondering of why it bombed: it's a movie for geeks, but was released simultaneously with The Expendables.

Last Action Hero bombed because it was released on the same weekend as Jurassic Park.

I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a joke or a fucked up logic.

Since when have Hot Topic done anything right?

They had the 2 disc version of Amon Amarth's recent album and they had the soundtrack (but not the score, unfortunately) to Scott Pilgrim.

the comic is infinitely superior.

Only in the rest of the movie following the Katayanagi Twins battle, which is understandable. Up until that point they're about even.

I much preferred the final half in the books, but I understand why so much was changed. I don't think the movie could have done Lisa justice, or the "wilderness sabbatical" so it's probably for the best they were dropped.

[up]Actually, I have doubts that the "Wilderness Sabbatical" (or most of book 6) was even written when the movie was being filmed.

[up]If I recall correctly, Wright and O'Malley were talking during 3, 4 and 5, then filmed before O'Malley finished 6 and by then he'd obviously had come up with a better ending.

Sorry, I just can't really come up with a situation wherein a person can buy/rent movies but can't buy/loan comics.

Well Canberra, the capital of Australia has ~6 Cinema's hundreds of stores that sell DVD's and 1 comic book store (and it doesn't carry Scott Pilgrim), so it's not imposible to see and own the movie but not the comic.
