This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~JoiningReaper, I appreciate your attitude coming in here. I'm not sure how to respond to it best, since those are our rules, and dislodging engrained habits is extremely difficult. Hang on for a little bit; I'd like to think of what would work best to get your suspension released, and avoid this recurring a third time.
I have come to request getting my suspension lifted. I shall not post in any Star Wars focused thread on this site ever again. I've said my piece on that topic here. I have other places to vent on that franchise, namely Twitter and Discord.
If I do post on said threads again, by all means get rid of me for good. I mostly keep to the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads myself. They're my people there.

~PolarPhantom, something that may not be immediately obvious is that we can restrict subforum access, and not just forum posting in general. The reason that you were suspended from posting entirely, and not just the Live-Action Film subforum is that you obviously feel very strongly about Star Wars. Which is...OK. The whole reason websites like this exist is because of that.
However, you seem intent on pushing for your interpretation/opinion on certain facets of this, to a point where it has come out repeatedly in either threads where such extended screeds are inappropriate (the clean-up threads for Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard, for example, where I've seen other posters request, multiple times, for you to cut it out), or where even if it is on-topic, you are talking about it in such a way that you are clearly condescending to others who disagree, to the point of your last post before being suspended took careful note to state that there are only "a few good people" in the thread in-question, and implying that the majority of people who don't agree with you are misogynists.
You also seem to think that your thumps were for your opinion, and not because you were stopping by the thread, not to have a conversation (because you almost immediately bounce out after posting), but just to drop your opinion that I Am Right, End of Discussion. That's not good forum behavior.
If you would like to resume participating in the forums at all, you need to not conflate a disagreement with a persecution.

So, I got a notice that I've been suspended, and I'd like to know why.

I don't consider myself persecuted though I do believe dissenting opinions are unwelcome on those threads. And I stopped bringing up my opinions on SW in the CM or MB threads unless prompted. The last time I did that was when someone talked about a certain character which set me off briefly on a rant. Cause I needed to vent.
I simply won't return to the Star Wars forums because I don't like reading what most of the people here think about certain aspects of the franchise. It makes me actually angry reading through those threads. Hence why I bounce after making a hot take. I won't miss them. They won't miss me.
And almost every take on The Last Jedi that I've read that hates it is based off of misogyny, whether knowingly or not. Hard to tell the difference to be frank. (Heck, almost every person I disagree with on SW rubs me the wrong way for some other reason, like ignoring abuse, having warped views on masculinity etc.) The people who dislike it for legitimate reasons are in the minority in my experience. Hence I have no interest in actually engaging with the threads here. So I will simply not post anymore.
I stand by what I've said on the matter for the record. Every. Last. Word.

I violated the rule about launching a trope when I didn't participate in its discussion, or contributed any changes. I now know that it is against the rules, and will not repeat the mistake, in the future.

@Fighteer: This is exactly what I said I'm going to do. I'm not going on those threads anymore. I don't like those threads and they don't like me - and I've said my piece. As such, there will be no such issues from me regarding them even as I do not regret my words and deeds.
I do take umbrage with being accused of incoherent yelling. My yelling is coherent, clear and I carefully and succinctly communicated the message I had.
EDIT: After thinking on it and cooling down, I would like to offer my formal apologies to the site and the moderators. It will not happen again as I have already written.
And just for clarity, I know why I was suspended: I went into a thread to express an opinion I knew would be inflammatory and had no desire to stick around and actually talk to the people in said thread due to my not liking what they have to say and being actvely angered by their takes. I did this because I saw yet more misogyny peddled by Lucasfilm and went to vent on the threads because GOOD LORD do people need to know Lucasfilm is filled with vile Fandom Menace nonsense.
And that shan't happen again as I have already made clear.

Hey, nombretomado. I don't want to seem pushy or anything, which is why I'm hesitant to write this, but I just wanted to know if there was any news about my suspension/any punishment I'm to be given.
To be clear, I'm not asking if, say, "oh am I unsuspended yet?", no. I deserve the suspension. I just want an update so I'm not left in the dark about anything; like if it's decided that my suspension lasts for a week or something, I'd like to know.
Okay, sorry if this is being pushy and you had things you were busy with.

Hi ~JoiningReaper, I meant to get back to you yesterday evening, but it was just a personally very long day. As for your suspension, I don't want to see you make these mistakes any more, and I'm sure you don't either. I think the best way to get you in the habit is to observe (or even participate) in clean-up related to those policy. I would like to keep your wiki suspension on, let's day, 5 days, and see you in the localization clean-up thread. You can ask questions if you see anything you don't understand, if there's a topic that comes up you're aware of, you can contribute; or, if nothing else, you can simply see what others are doing so you ingest these rules for if/when your suspension is released. All agreed?
~PolarPhantom, I think you made be under the impression you are the only person aware of social issues in Star Wars on this site. You are not, and it is not your personal responsibility to act as a missionary of your dogma to the masses. I am prepared to release your PM suspension, and change your forum access so you can no longer participate in the Live-Action Film subforum specifically. Any re-creation of these habits in other places on the forum will be subsequently acted on by moderation, and you may end up here again. Understood?

I have no idea why I have been suspended. I got no warning, no details, and I can’t edit anything. I am a great editor. I don’t know what happened, or how long this is intended for, or why anyone thought this was appropriate action.
Update: I seem to have been accused of vandalizing crowners “twice”, but the first time was an honest mistake because I didn’t know which button did what. And yet somehow a single offense resulted in a suspension? I don’t understand this.

Changing an existing crowner item to something entirely different counts as crowner vandalism.
If you want to pitch an item not covered in a crowner, there's a button that says "add new". Use that instead. Are we clear?

~UncontestedSequel517, to make things clearer, you were asked multiple times in the thread to chill out and stop yelling at people who were trying to discuss the situation with a more level head. When you change an option in the crowner that has upvotes so essentially that people who were voting for one thing, now appear to be voting for the thing you've been pushing for super-aggressively, yes, it looks like vandalism. This is why you were suspended, and not just warned.
Can you participate in that thread more calmly?
~SheltonTVTropes, the reason Fighteer is emphasizing this so much (and following up on what appears to be rote repetition back) is that we see a lot of people come in here, say "yes, yes, I get it," we release them, and then they go back and do the same thing all over again. We don't want to see this happen again, for your sake and ours. If you insist you get it, all we can really do is take you at your word and hope that this is the case. I'll release your suspension.
