This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I was suspended. Can I ask why and how to avoid it in the future? Thank you.
I have been suspended for the past few days. I can't say I do not know why, but now that I have taken note of my mistakes, I politely ask you, TV Tropes, to end my suspension.
as you can see, the number of tropers are decreasing overtime, I believe when I logged in about 5 months ago, I can see over 5000 tropers. as of today, as of the moment when I write this, August 21st, 2015, only less than 4400 tropers remains. I ask of you, tvtropes, to see to my suspension, let me once again be able to contribute to you all. I am going to be busy in the weeks to come, but if unfortunately my suspension has yet to be lifted by the time I get back, I would have no choice but to add myself to the growing number of Tropers who leave this wiki. ~Writer In Abscence: We've noted significant issues with your writing, evident in many places, but one particular case is the example of Sci-Fi Writers Have No Sense of Scale that you added to Literature.Ciaphas Cain. Another is an Ambiguously Brown example that you edited on Characters.Shokugeki No Soma. I get the sense that English isn't your first language. We don't mind that, but you do need to be able to write grammatical English to edit an English language wiki.
~SergeshD123: That number is the count of simultaneously online tropers and has nothing to do with our total user body. Anyway, that's none of your business; if you feel that insulting other tropers whose opinions you disagree with (as seen on WMG.Dishonored 2) is a valuable contribution, we can do without you. I am aware of I have done, as noted above. I understand your frustration at my statement, thus I apologize for any dismay I may have brought to you. This will never repeat, I can give my words, which I do not give away lightly. but you have mistaken if you believed that I disagreed with that one fellow troper, I did not try to argue with him, I tried to make him see how wrong he was, based on the fact that he did not do the research or even had any actual understanding about the subject, I did not know at the time that such actions were counted as breaking the wiki's rule. I have made my appeal, and truthfully, I respect your resulting decision, to let me return or not. The best of all to you

This is key to the issue at hand. You declared yourself a superior authority on a subject, assumed that the other person was ignorant, and spoke condescendingly to them in a wiki article. We're all equal online in the sense that we have no credentials. Assume good faith. Further, wiki articles are not for conversations. If you feel the need to argue a point, do it via private messaging or the Discussion pages, and cite sources.

~snowviolet: We took issue with some of your additions to YMMV.Frozen Disney, particularly an inappropriate use of Broken Aesop and the addition of single-bulleted entries that are not tropes. For some reason, Frozen attracts a lot of people with axes to grind, and we'd prefer that such things be kept off our wiki.

Suddenly discovered I was suspended today without warning or any moderator PM on why I was specifically suspended as appears to be the norm here. This appears to be my first offence so I would like to apply for an appeal. Some investigating of my own has me aware it is in the category of Edit Warring.
Don't take this as a complaint but as my personal insight: I am not a frequent editor on this site, I much prefer the 'Other Wiki', so that I was very much surprised when I was found to be suspended for an edit without any warning or discussion which is very rare on Wikipedia. So I checked the edit history of the page which got me suspended and found it was the OP who undid my edit. I understand what I did may constitute as a Edit War offence, but I do not understand the illegality of the content of my edit so that OP had undone it nor why OP felt it warranted the undo reason that was given.
I do not know where OP thinks appropriate the place for the discussion, be it either this forum, or a private message, so I will refrain from digressing my grievances further, but I would like to discuss the semantics of my edit with regards to the offending page and proffer my own view.

~Sleath56: We are not Wikipedia, as should be obvious from reading our Home Page. The first goal of a suspension is to stop the problematic behavior, and edit warring is an automatic suspension: do not pass Go, do not collect $200, do not get a warning PM first; in any event, we've found that many users simply ignore them.
In particular, we have concerns whenever someone edits an article that deals with a potentially sensitive social topic and adds a big disclaimer like, "This is extremely YMMV". We prohibit prescriptive language: TV Tropes is not your soapbox, to tell people how they should treat a topic. We are concerned with the presentation of tropes in fiction, not any social commentary that may have to do with their application in Real Life.

Can I appeal my suspension? It was a while ago, when I was very new, the first thing I did was create two pages about some video games I liked, but they only had the beginnings of a list of tropes, no content about the games. I planned to expand them later, but they were deleted, and my editing privileges were taken away. I have kinda avoided trying to edit on this wiki since then, keeping to Wikipedia, where I actually understand (fairly well) how things work. I want to know, does TV Tropes have a user sandbox, like, a place where i can work on crappy, half-finished articles without them being deleted? This being a non Media Wiki wiki, I am not very familiar with how it works… but I like this site and want to help out with it! I still have copies of the pages that were deleted stored as text files on my hard drive, I would like to flesh them out and put them on TV Tropes where they belong! Can I have my editing privileges back?
~Tuaam: I want to be clear about something. You weren't suspended because someone disagreed with you; you were suspended because replacing a perfectly good page quote with a statement like that is a violation of our most important policy: "don't be a dick". Whether you, personally, think the series is being milked is irrelevant when it comes to tropes. You are welcome to write a review, but leave your opinions off the main article.
