Okami 2: Okamiden

One of the most exciting announcements to come out of Captivate, is the arrival of the long awaited sequel to Okami, Okamiden.

Capcom promise that the innovative action RPG sequel will appear on the Nintendo DS next year.

Okamiden, takes place months after Okami and follows the adventures of the young sun god, Chibiterasu.

The DS should prove an ideal platform for wielding the Celestial Brush to protect the land form evil.

But we've known about Okamiden for a while. We just didn't know it was leaving Japan until recently. Not that I'm not thrilled.

Awww, next year? DAMMIT.

Well, somewhat looking forward to it. Too bad it's being done by a different studio, though. Sure hope that they can either emulate Clover's style, or just take the source material and go nuts with it themselves.

Next year? Damn.

I love how the early screenshots are already showing an incredibly faithful recreation of Kamiki Village, right down to the turnip lady!

Well I'd poerfer a new theme that is must as much a Crowning Music Of Awesome. I also hope that Chibretsu is a bitch girl. The game inductry is inundated with male protaginists. Also very impressed by the cell-shading, a genuine attempt to create a polygonal game for the DS with cell-shading. Shame it wasn't developed for the 3DS.

At least the guys who are developing it are fufilling Clover Studio's Dying wish to make a 2nd okami (Now reborn as Platinum Games.)

Umm...Isn't it kinda redundant to call this game '2' since it's names make it sound like its Gaiden Game?

^O_o; I though their dying wish was to make new Viewtiful Joe game...

No, it isn''t a Gaiden Game. Okami Den takes place several months after the original. So it can't be. It also was their wish to make a 2nd okami, but since Okamiden technically is this, Hideki Kamiya wants to finish Viewtiful Joe, but its not likelly to happen by his hand.

And you are making stuff up. Of course they were interested in making sequel(otherwise, they wouldn't have ended with sequel hook) but its not like they care that much so you could call it "dying wish".(one guy(I forgot who he was named)who worked on first game apparently lost interest in sequel because of Okamiden)

Heck, you make it sound like some sort of epic story of how Clover Studios was killed by Capcom who stole their babies and now Clover has reincarnated as Platinum Games and blah blah.

...Wow.... O.o; I'm in strange mood currently. Probably combination of depression and boredom.

Because its trfue, Capcom ended up pissing off Hideki Kamiya and Shinji Mikami for creative issues. And because Capcom is making okamiDen, Hidekio Kamiya isn't interested anymore. He Really DOES want to make the Next Viewtiful Joe, but as it looks its unlikely, as shopwn in the Intro cutscene of bayonetta where one grave stone says Joe theRedd Hot Homerunner on it.

But then again, I'm looking forward to Okamiden. looks like fun.

I'm not sure was he that interested in making sequel... Anyway, I am waiting for Okamiden, I'm just not that excited since, well, I am little saddened that it isn't made by same people...(though, it doesn't look bad so far...) Aka, there is no 'guarantee'(Yeah, I know, no need to point out bad logic in this one) that it will have same spirit as first one...

I hope this one also has an opening cutscene that takes half an hour to get through even if you skip all the text.

That's really my only experience with Okami.

Then why the heck you are here?

^ It is, technically. Its made by the same people who used to be a part of clover who returned to capcom instead of going with platinum games after clover was disbanded.

Official Soundtrack announced.

4 discs for a DS game is a rarity nowadays. I can count on one hand how many games for the DS get a soundtrack this big. =d

Only thing I need to know is that is Chibiterasu child of Amaterasu(in which case I kill someone(Jk... Or am I?)) and if Yami makes appearance.

The child part is confirmed. Chibirestu's sex does not seem to be.

Got the gamerip of the music.

Amazingly enough, the sound quality is barely affected, despite being on the DS. The soundtrack is almost as good as the PS 2 original's.

Very nice.
