My Kickstarter blue-rays finally arrived today. Now, do I give the English dub a try or listen to the whole thing in French again?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I've heard that the dub is rather unimpressive.
Right now, I'm focused on Dofus subbed.
"We be we baby!"By the way, season 3 has been officially announced. http://wishingstarinajar.tumblr.com/post/121827500769/yep-it-finally-got-officially-announced-during
S.Z. Unicorn Doom Inc.AWESOME!
SPECULAH! Steven meets Yugo!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Neato. Never enough of this stuff.
Looking to upgrade to park bench. Is there any way for me to purchase the Season 1 & 2 Bluray set since the Kickstarter thing is done?
I looked on Amazon and can't find any Wakfu English DVDS.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Only if someone is selling their set second hand. The Blu-ray set was exclusive to the Kickstarter. If you're really desperate for a physical copy (as it is on Netflix) you could try to track down the Australian box set.
Not Three Laws compliant.I went to the Anime Expo, Ankama screened the second and third OV As,English dub. Man the dub cast has really improved since the first season.
Live your life.I'm normally very much a dub-preferred type of person. I've often found English voice acting to be easier to absorb than Japanese voices, but I know that's not a universal opinion. For Wakfu, however, I've actually much preferred taking in the original voice acting, as I feel like in French, you can at least absorb a bit more of the emotion in someone's dialog. You can tell Netflix to switch in its language menu, and for everyone I've been suggesting the series to, I suggest they do that lest they get dissuaded by bad actors. I honestly never got used to Ruel's voice, and maybe it's just me, but I even feel like some of the sound effects aren't quite spot-on in the English audio.
I certainly don't intend to say that the English V As "phoned it in" or anything - localization is a tough job, and it's definitely worth applauding when a studio like CAPCOM's Ace Attorney team gets all the tiny cultural bits feeling just right.
Oh man the animation though; I feel like there are times that they manage to "tween" even highly-detailed shots like someone's face, as they do a massive camera shift, and it all looks completely natural - like they did 3D CGI, but without it looking out of place and horrific.
I recently started watching Wakfu on Netflix to try to practice my French. So far I'm up to episode 10. Obviously I only understand a fraction of what is said, but at least I can usually get the gist of what's going on.
By the way, did anyone else spot Fry and Bender in the Boufbowl stadium crowd?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlaySome news I caught. Season 3 will be out at the end of 2016, with 13 episodes of 26 minutes. All of them will be part of a story arc, no standalones. Adamaï does not seem to be part of the team anymore, replaced by Flopin and Elélie. If it is successful, they will probably add more episodes to he season.
Awesome, and I'm kinda glad it'll be an ongoing storyline without standalone episodes, sometimes the standalone episodes get a bit tiresome in this show.
I'm kind of torn on the standalone episodes. On the one hand, they can throw off the season's storyline, and they can be really bad with pacing - the second Boufbowl arc just dragged on and on, and then there's the episode where Pinpin fights a bunch of Cra for no goddam reason. But Wakfu plot episodes have a real problem with finding stuff for all of the characters to do. The OV As are the worst; Amalia, Eva and Ruel get one fight; by the third episode they're sidelined completely. It's Armand who has to step up and protect the Tree of Life from the battle's effects.
Finally finished season 1. It's going a bit slowly for me since I decided to watch every episode twice: once without subtitles and then again with subtitles so I can actually understand everything. Interestingly, I've also noticed a number of differences in the translation too.
Anyway, season 1 finale reactions, copied over from the other thread
I can't believe they did it. I can't believe they actually did it. I was so sure Tristepin's death would be undone at the end. Wow. I wonder if that makes his comment about being the main character of the story harsher in hindsight.
So the final fight was cool and all, but on the rewatch, it was somewhat ruined by the feeling of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero. If only Yugo hadn't done anything, Nox would have probably gone back far enough to save Tristepin. Also, Nox is even more of a woobie than I thought. Did the Eliacube ever talk or was he actually crazy the whole time? Also, looks like the girl from Igôle's flashback was one of Nox's kids. Speaking of which, Igôle was apparently renamed Igol in the subs. Which makes sense and is a heck of a lot easier to type.
Decided to look up some spoilers since I still can't really believe he's gone. Going by the fact that there's a season 2 section under his character entry, I guess he isn't. I was kind of suspicious given the fact that he just disappeared into light, but the fact that they went to the trouble of putting up a memorial and all that would normally suggest it's final.
....
P.S. Reading the beginning of this thread is really interesting, especially the first page where you can see people's reactions to the season 1 finale.
Also found this bit interesting
I wish I understood French well enough to get the puns. By the way, does Frenchy Anon still post here?

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWhew, I finally finished both seasons and the 3 Ovas on Netflix. (Sadly the Nox and Ogrest specials aren't there).
Shame this thread is dead. I've been doing all the discussion in the MLP thread because nobody posts here (plus several other people in the MLP thread are Wakfu fans too)
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYou should definitely make an effort to watch the other two OVAs. They give a very interesting perspective of Nox and Ogrest.

This song needs more love.I haven't seen them either, can you find the two ovas subbed?
IIRC, you can watch the subbed episodes on Netflix.
If not (or if you can't afford Netflix) I remember watching said subbed episodes on any cartoon streaming sites (not sure if posting name of sites is against the rules).
The Nox and Ogrest OVAs are not on Netflix. You have to find them elsewhere.
This song needs more love.Netflix only has the two seasons of the main show, plus the three sequel OV As. It doesn't have the Nox or Ogrest specials or Mini Wakfu or Dofus.
Sadly, I still haven't found a place to watch the specials, not that I've been looking particularly hard.
Also, I'm still confused about who the mysterious sadida guy at the end of the seasons 2 finale credits was.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI have found the weirdest place where one could find the Ogrest OAV... on Steam. I didn't even know Steam could be used a streaming device!
Do you have a screen cap? Because now I'm curious too.
That's true; I'd forgotten about that. And Yugo's right; it's foolish to let Ogrest's Chaos drown everything a second time.
