More like Koji Fox. He's the one adding all these references to the English version. The Japanese versions aren't as reference-filled.
THANK FUCKING FUCK-FUCK! Only took them three friggin' years to get around to implementing!
You know what also took them 3 years to implement? first lieutenant (at this rare we'll reach Champion in 2075 )
Blame the game having a small team.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.More like blame all the profit being siphoned into other projects.
I'm assuming 'small team' is a relative term here. I can't imagine this game could be maintained by an actual small team.
It does feel weird to add a new rank after all this time though :P I guess it wasn't a priority.
The devs said outright that their team is small, at least in comparison to other MM Os of similar scale. They want to hire more people to get more kinds of content pushed out, such as 8 man raids having more than 2 difficulty levels, but they need someone who is already skilled in developing content and can speak Japanese. They haven't found people like that yet.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I find that hard to believe. They produce more content on a three month schedule than several bigger MMO's do yearly. Unless they've got sweat shop working conditiosn 24/7, they've got to have at least a decent sized team holding it down.
Its possible that most of the people working from XIV were mostly from older games (XI being a likely case for most of them). And that there were delays and other hangups for this (and that the finding is also a factor)

They plan everything months in advance, even the next expansion packs, and then work on them from there. They know what to make and when it should be pushed out. At the same time, they have said they need more people in order to work on more content in the same speed that they're working at now. Expert dungeons in 3.X are 2 per major patch instead of 3 because they had to use that manpower to work on new content (Diadem, Palace of the Dead, etc) and they simply couldn't afford to do everything while being on schedule. Ergo, something had to be sacrificed in order to work on something else.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I'm pretty confident the overwhelming majority of game development is handled like that. My point is that, in terms of timeframe and volume of content, you really can't beat XIV. A major patch absolutely will have at least one new feature, several new dungeons, an update to the game's story with new, mostly voiced cutscenes, optional bosses with new models, music, and mechanics, usually with multiple difficulties, a new raid, updates to existing features, and all the various tweaks and fixes that come with it.
Most other major updates in other MMO's might have 2 or 3 of those at most. There are expansion packs in other games with shorter content offerings than your average Final Fantasy XIV patch.

yea thats what i told my friend
every FF14 update is basically a mini-expansion for free
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaWow, really? If I played another MMO and paid what I paid for Heavensward and got maybe 3 hours of new story content and a couple of new dungeons and a handful of new features I probably wouldn't use much, I'd be disappointed.
not to say other MMO's dont add stuff with free updates, just not to the extent of what 14 does.
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaYeah, I figured that was what was meant.
Logged on briefly to buy apartments for my characters. Now I have to furnish the damned things...
Huh.
The first new branch of Alexander is surprisingly tough. Until you figure it out, you're going to have a lot of wipes. Here's the things:
- There's a lot of small dps checks. If adds aren't revived and then killed on a lava tile before the boss uses Stockpile, the boss grows stronger. I think it's an instant-wipe if he reaches full strength, or maybe just a huge hit that nearly wipes them in normal mode.
- The boss hits hard. Like, seriously hard. I think the MT needs a pocket healer for the full thing, else he'll have a really hard time (I don't recommend Warrior for this, there's no warning for Scrap, so you can't time Inner Beast for mitigation)
- There is a DPS check. The boss spawns a Faust that needs to be killed before his next Stockpile. And the offtank needs to have awareness so that the Faust is killed in the right place.
The next section was a joke in comparison. There, I only had one wipe because people didn't understand what the buttons did, as opposed to a clean hour spent trying to identify the mechanics of the disassembler.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. The fight against the Warriors of Darkness was very entertaining. It felt like a PVP match and the fact that they use the Echo in the same way you do when you are defeated had me surprised.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Still, guess having to fight against the whole constantly-reviving group is what puts it below the Raubahn fight for me.
Still, the conclousion of the WoD story was pretty touching.
And if there's another enemy I have to fight *again*...

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaStormblood's the next expansion.
Ala Mhigo after all.
... and to be honest I can't really bring myself to be all that excited about it. Ala Mhigo sounds like a really boring country.

Seems like PS 3 support is gonna be dropped by 4.0 now. I also saw a pic saying minimum requirements for the Windows version will change. I wonder how.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. So far its pretty tame compared to the wintery orthodox of Ishgard but I think there is room to build up interest since its been under Imperial occupation for like 20 years right?
Windows: Current minimum requirements include the Intel Core 2 CPU series (can't buy new machines with those anymore). The new minimum will cut those out so the new floor would probably be the i3/i5/i7 series (2010-onward) or their AMD equivalent.
And there is definitely interest in Ala Mhigo. It's been occupied by the Garleans for 20 years and anyone paying attention to the story had a good chance of guessing we were going to end up trying to liberate it eventually.
As someone who mains MNK, that trailer has be all goosebump-y.
"Biggs and Wedge's Excellent Adventure"
fuckin love this game
