Yeah, the chronicles of light Zenos story pretty much spells it out how much of Varis’a bad parenting caused most of Zenos’ issues. There were months of time where they wouldn’t even see each other.

It’s also been stated that Zenos’ was unable to make friends in the Imperial academy.

Makes you wonder how different he would be if he had Noctis’ upbringing.

To be honest I don’t think he could be a better father even if he had interacted with his son like a parent should. He is a True Believer in the cause of restoring the world after all.

Zenos is pretty much legit mentally ill but if he had a family that wasn't terrible all the way up to great grandpa pitting his descendants against each other for shiggles he probably could have become much better adjusted.

He’s basically the WOL without the ability to empathize.

Or friends.

Zenos is manufactured to be the way he is, thanks to Emet Selch treatment of 'his favorite grandson'.

Also if the fan theory is ever confirmed, the Wolf that is put down in Elpis is possibly Zenos's soul.

Tbf his Grandpa didn’t sound too bad considering Emet loved the guy…then he died and it was all downhill for Varis as a living reminder of what he lost.

Said creature was unlikely to have a soul. Especially since souls were outside of their ability to create unless it happens by happenstance. Having memories of the Final Days says he was more likely to be a Sundered Ancient more than anything.

Yeah, it's a plot point that the Phoenix was the first successful attempt at creating a concept with a soul. I am curious if Athena played a part in it. Probably not.

The relevant Tales from the Shadows says that the phoenix happened because the Ancients were working on a concept and oops, there was a random soul around and it got stuck inside. The soul was preexisting.

I suppose they could technically retcon her in as having created the original concept that the soul got trapped in, but I don't see the point.

Hmmmmm I think it's possible that's how the Ancients eventually reincarnated into the sundered. As for Athena, yeah I don't think this is her handiwork, given how despite her intelligence, she wasn't able to achieve creating life with a soul through magic. Erich doesn't count, that's a different method of creation.

I think players put way more focus on who is the reincarnation of who than the devs do.

Well, Yoshi P openly said that how the whole future timeline where the exarch comes from, and the timeloop where we meet Venat can even happen is something the devs aren't fully sure of themselves and he'll leave it to fans to speculate.

I did feel a microscopic speck sorry for Zenos at the end, if only because he seemed so happy to see me. Afterward I thought if he lived on the Azim Steppe he would have been fine.

The world would not fare well.

My WOL is from the Azim Steppe, and fully accepts Zenos as her friend.

Yeah that checks out.

Zenos wouldn't like being in the Steppe tbh. No one can match him and they will all fall in hours or they will suck up like in the empire.

Zenos is basically a Savage Raider who cutscene skipped just for the raid fights and is bored of the game till the next raid appears. We are Zenos's ultimate difficulty encounter and he is constantly pining for his next attempt.

The reason the Empire didn't make any strides there, was because the land wasn't ripe for exploitation and they thought it more trouble than it's worth to confront the tribes.

Heck the only reason the Empire was in the Steppe was because the WOL was there.

So there's no reason for Zenos to actually know about the place since his focus was on stirring up rebellion on the conquered territories.

I thought of something they could do in Dawntrail:

Basically, an expansion of the Hunt system. You can have normal Hunt monsters, and 'Great Hunts' on top of that, which could replace A-Ranks/S-S rank monsters. The Great Hunts would differ by being much stronger, and also using a system similiar to the Bozja bosses - you can 'pre-register' for a Great Hunt before it spawns, and automatically teleport to it, and when it starts that section of the map is cordoned off for the fight, with a capped amount of players to avoid getting the Hunt Train bumrush effect (and ideally you'd want multiple Great Hunts active for each zone at the same time so people don't just camp one of them and prevent other players from doing them). The rewards could be Seals/Nuts, Tomes, and a new token for rewards similiar to the Fate Boss tokens.

The Critcal Encounters system of Bozja is basically a much more imrpoved version of the Fate Boss system, so I don't see why they shouldn't add it outside of Bozja.

Frankly, there's plenty of Savage content if you need deep dive material to occupy yourself.

Including the original savage content: The cutscenes in the binding coils.

I get it, this is Alisae's only character moment before Heavensward. That doesn't stop the cutscenes IN THE INSTANCES from being 10-15 minutes long.

ARR did that. Theyve excised most of it, but Coils are effectively abandoned content.

While I understand what he was doing... His background footage as a healer makes me want to scream.

He should know better than to fish for freecures and not attack.
