Blue woke up. That's a thing. It has undone her pointlessly falling asleep from last week or so.
It's not "Blue waking up" I'm annoyed with. It's the glacial pacing and smearing of what should be minor details in a story line over at least 4 panels just to fill another day. There is no reason a whole day should be dedicated to Blue waking up and complaining about cold coffee.
Let's see what Tats has done with the Devil going home for the month of September.
- 1 September: Devil lands on airport, gets in limo
- 4 September: Devil is driving in his limo and looks out the window
- 7 September: Devil stops at art gallery, almost sees Fuchsia, leaves without doing anything.
- 11 September: Limo arrives at mansion.
- 15 September: Devil enters through front door.
- 16 September: Devil hangs up his coat.
- 18 September: Devil enters control room, starts watching replays of what's happened before.
Tats has used 38 panels in total to show this happening and has not advanced this plot at all between 1 and 18 September. If we are lucky then the Devil in the control room means something is about to go down, but this still means Tats will want to pad everything out until the big Sunday strip.

Last two trips were cute.
Maybe he should just stick to slice-of-life stuff.
Reason for glacial pace is because Tat's can cram all the "development" and "drama" he wants into the weekly strips. He needs the Sunday strips to actually get anything done.
And he needs to stall until he gets there...
TWR mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. Tats should REALLY abandon the once a day aspect of the comic, adopt a Mon-Wed-Fri schedual, and use that extra time to turn all of the comics into the big honking Sunday ones.
The guy has like, 9,001 plots all going on at once, only a few of them actually interact with one another, and only ONE has actually finished. (Maverick's attempts at getting vengeance.) At the rate this thing is going, Sony is going to sell it's Superhero licensees back to Marvel before Tats actually finishes another plot.
Agreed.
And really, by the time Tat's finishes one storyline... he has started six others.
Even the "resolution" of a storyline has relatively little going on. What's the last time one was really settled and changed the status quo in a meaningful way?

Still nothing happening, but at least we get another good "OH SHIT!" face. Figures that would be a shared talent with Fuchsia and Blue.

At least this one was something. A transition strip if nothing else.
It's nearly impossible to NOT have something happen tomorrow. Let's wait and see.

You can just hear Satan saying, "Blue, is there something you'd like to tell me?"

I'm legit torn here. On one hand, only an idiot would put all the blame on Blue, who clearly did everything she could with the reasources she had. It's not her fault everyone else in this organization are mind bogglingly incompetent.
On the other hand, we'd have our supposed bad guy ACTUALLY ACTING LIKE A BAD GUY! Ain't that an odd idea!?
On the third hand, this could still leave Monique open to swoop in with the kreep-to-nite to save the day, allowing Blue to escape.
Ah Sod it. It's late, and I have work on Monday. Imma go watch ponies. Anyone with?

Except that now D-Man knows about Fuchsia's nostalgic painting of Blue.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. And what Lil'E has been up to as of late. I can just imagine him thinking "now that's why I deemed him a failure"...
inb4 it turns out they didn't have a single camera or drone assigned to the Exposed Network Access Port Outside The Building at all.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot@ Medinoc
Well, at least Tats has consequently shown himself to be able to deliver the impossible!
It's almost like Tats takes "show, not tell" too literally. I would assume that the Devil checking what's happened during Blue's watch didn't need to be shown in explicit detail, since the audience already knows what's happened. For some reason Tats seems to think differently about that.

Just a small note: did you people notice how the images SKIP over every action Blue did to stop the catastrophe? Basically, Tats is doing whatever he can to make the Devil put all the blame on Blue - even if everything WE know and HE should know clearly tells that he should blame pretty much everyone else but Blue.
Seriously, Tats, what the Pootis is wrong with you?
Platypi hold the secret to happiness.Maybe he really wants Blue to go the same route as Fuchsia did.
@ Alarkhar
That's a good catch. Didn't even notice that. I'd expect the control room to work as the black boxes in an aircraft where every conversation is recorded, so by all logic the Devil should know exactly what happened and what Blue did to stop it.
The only thing she really did that was stupidly unprofessional was going to sleep while she was supposed to be on duty. Yet I can't really fault her for that, since it's plot-induced narcolepsy instead of in-character incompetence.
It's really the same with those stupid USB hack ports outside of every building. It's more Tats' incredible shitty deus ex machina mechanics than something I can fault the Devil for.
Making the Devil not take everything into account in judging his number two would make him far more incompetent than he has ever been. I can't help but think "Tats wouldn't go there, would he", but as said earlier that line of thinking has led to disappointment before.

Alternatively, perhaps D-Man has already seen the parts where Blue did a relatively good job, and is just reviewing the parts where things went to hell for some reason or the other that isn't "I'll just focus my attention on the negatives and ignore all the positives". Maybe even "OK, I hear her coming down the hall, so I'll scare her shitless with a review of her 'failures' to make sure she's taking this incident seriously, before cutting her some slack for handling it as well as she did".
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. What was the part with the popcorn and Maverick using a touch screen?
That's when she first broke free from the table Milton had strapped Maverick to. Milton was out getting popcorn while he had started the procedure. While he was out the Dynamic Duo pressed the conveniently located single switch override button and Maverick escaped. After Milton came back with his popcorn Maverick broke a window and used the touch screen to strap him to the table.

Sooo, is Satan being a troll right now or what? That happy face seems a bit trollish IMO.
THAT'S the Devil we all know and love (To hate)!
Tats has just managed to make another comic where there's nothing happening. He should really start asking himself "Does this advance the plot in any way?" and as long as the answer is "No of course not you twit" refrain from making the comic. It's better to skip days than come with useless crap like this every time.
