I leave for a few days, and I return to Lord of the Gary Stus and the same joke rehashed 3 times.
The next time I stop paying attention to this comic for a time then return, I'm going to find out that Fuchsia left Crimminy for Vainglourious Basterd, The Suesterhood has just instituted a world government and its a perfect utopia in which men are "free" (read: dead), and the entire female cast are now lesbians because "it was the only logical choice".
If any of that sounds contradictory and doesn't make any sense, remember that this is Tats, who may as well be the anti-philosopher's stone. Capable of transmuting gold into lead, or rather a good comic into the greatest disappointment in webcomics history.

TWR has some commentary on the reveal of Vainglorious.
Also like Homestuck, and less spuriously, Tats spent a long ass time building up the mystery of this new BBEG character, (going for far to reveal part of his face), only for it to be revealed in a page with great fanfare that -surprise! - it was an entirely new character and all the mystery was a fake!
At least Homestuck followed up its utterly stupid reveal (and, while I generally like Homestuck, building up English’s identity as a mystery for so long only to have him be a new thing was a little bullshit) with us getting to meet the bad guy as a kid and see how he got there, there will be no such follow-ups.
Yes, I expected Devil Slick to be Vainglorious, because I thought the coy reveal of part of his hair meant that somebody was Vainglorious. But nope. New character.
And now he can safely go in the Reality Zone! Wow! That would be impressive if
A. The Reality Zone was consistent in its rules (even within this strip! The shield is protecting Vainglorious from the Reality Zone, but he’s still drawn more detailed?)
B. The rules of the Reality Zone were explained to us
C. There was any kind of inkling of why I should care he’s in the Reality Zone. The guy he’s trying to overthrow isn’t in there, after all, and I doubt Sinfest is going Meta here and trying to say Vainglorious really exists, so wtf.
D. I had the vaguest idea of if Vainy G was a good guy or a bad guy or what. Even Lord English, for all his ultimately pointless build-up, was actually doing things and people were saying he was an invincible and evil demon and he had agents going around doing bad things.
(Including, incidentally, being cruel to various girls and women. This one scene http://www.mspaintadventures.com/scratch.php?s=6&p=005937 sells the “Bad guy is a misogynist jerk who’s a huge bastard and also has a issue with women generally” angle better than all of Sinfest, and the bad guy of Sinfest is literally the patriarchy and also literally Satan).
Where’s all this for Vainglorious, for all his build-up. All this is is “Mysterious Guy doing mysterious things mysteriously”. We’ve spent a lot of time with selling him as a super threat, and I don’t know anything about him. Is he good? Is he evil? Is he powerful, or manipulative. Does he have forces, or is it just the one guy? I don’t know his personality (oh, he’s an artist okay but none of his art tells us anything about him like oh wow it’s hands. I guess it says something that the devil is looking for a dude named Vainglorious who’s apparently also a famous artist named Vainglorious, but it tells me more about Tats than it does about the characters, unless I’m supposed to think the devil and his army of spy drones failed to notice the Art Exhibit for this big super enemy of his), I don’t know his tactics, I don’t know how dangerous he is (presumably a lot, given the build up, but how. Is he a powerful wizard? Does he know secrets? Have allies? Is feeding the Sisterhood information so they attack his targets for him?). Literally, all the build-up could’ve been dropped, and this could be the first time the dude shows up except the graffiti, and we wouldn’t be missing out on anything.
And maybe I’d be more patient that Tats would explain this if he explained Devil Slick, Demonique, or the Reality Zone. Or if Mint had ever come back or it had been explained how and why she made Devil Slick.
Honestly, given Tat’s track record, I half expect Vainglorious to never be mentioned again.

And once again, Devilcorp takes steps to try and retrieve defective, potentially dangerous goods (That this time were never meant for the civilian market) that were essentially let loose into the world by the Sisterhood.

The worst they deserve so far is some prison time for assault and robbery, and it sure isn't the fate Devilcorp has in reserve for them.

Know what? You've got a point there. And if there were any other authority in the Sinfest world for dealing with Maverick and the XX Xes I'd probably want them to deal with the issue.
But here's the thing, there's only two authorities you can go to on this subject. Devilcorp who wants to do horrible things to them, and the Sisterhood who freaking CREATED the problem in the first place!
Given that the Sisterhood would most likely just let them continue on as they are, and Devilcorp is trying to capture them, who the heck do you think I'd support!?
Actually, so far, the only violence the IBITNRG (I'm still calling the XXX's that) have done is attack a guy who was grabbing its hair. It's a small stretch, but all things considered, it isn't too irrational to react the way it did in that situation. Also, it left after the man was knocked back, causing no other harm than swiping his coat and hat.
On the other side, HOLY SHIT! Is Tats potentially introducing a designed-to-be-attractive male character that one of his Sues?

The character seems to be some shade of black, so Tat can probably get away with making him attractive since he's a minority. He's getting more Tumblr by the minute.
And on the risk of sparking another discussion of this (which I don't mind really ) I really disagree with the machines deserving sympathy because they start displaying sentient behaviour. The only consistent thing the fembots when left on their own have shown so far is a tendency for exaggerated violence aimed at males. Even the assassin ones.

It's happened so often it has become a punchline for us to use. These things shouldn't be independent since they are consistently shown to have the social skills of a Terminator, so therefore I have no problem with them being taken down.
I really don't get why the Suesterhood has made more of these things. Although it might be symbolic for Tats' kind of Tumblr feminism. Just invent a problem where there hasn't existed one before and start giving lots of attention to it.

Here's the thing though, at one point the XX Xes had the chance for violence and vengeance and all that, and they just walked away. And like Dave mentioned, their one act of violence so far didn't really go too far. (At least by the standards set by Maverick. )
Basically, there's room for hope with them. Not MUCH mind you, but it's there.

Actually, I just took another look at this comic. Nique's not just planning on raiding this just for the valuables. She thinks what's in there is "the spoils of exploitation".
So she's dragging her friend into breaking and entering her boss' private property, probably stealing any shinies in there, out of a sense of righteousness like a SJW Robin Hood. (Basically, he's evil and the monies in there might possibly have been gained by potentially taking advantage of women, so it's okay for us to steal it.)
I just...How is she supposed to be the hero here? Hell, how are ANY of the characters we're supposed to cheer for heroes? Just how? Goddamn Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is more genuinely heroic.

You know what I'd like to see happen? The Devil finds them, and just... falls apart. He drops on an armchair, roars "BOTH OF YOU, OUT OF MY HOUSE!" and starts sobbing. Monique and Absinthe get thrown out by Blue, then the Angels show up... and TAKE BACK EVERY SINGLE GLITTER POINT MONIQUE EVER GOT FROM STRIP #1 ONWARDS.
Because while messing things up is wrong, putting a friend in trouble is even wronger... but there's nothing more wrong than taking a sledgehammer to someone else's life. Not even the Devil's.

Nah. Absinthe has plot armor that's just as thick. If anything Baby Blue will end up taking the fall for some reason, like when Absinthe took her unscheduled day off and Blue ended up pick king up her slack.
