A bunch of enemies are just Underground Monkeys, though. Plus I have trouble remembering anything that isn't a Bokoblin, Moblin, or Lizafos (or whatever they're called).

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? That's a fair enough point. I will agree that more enemy variety would be nice, but it's already good enough imo
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeEven nowadays, I still think Wind Waker is the best Zelda game. Sure, it has it's flaws and was obviously rushed in areas, but it had the perfect mix of linear and non-linear. It actually felt like you were making progress in the game, it had actual dungeons (Though they were limited due to time constraints forcing them to cut several of them), items in the dungeons that you use throughout the game and varied bosses with their own themes, the more cartoony and silly style of the game made it much more enjoyable to explore, while the overworld might have been mostly empty it got exciting when you found new stuff in it and it was much easier to get around in than Breath of the Wild's, it had better enemy variety, and I find it much easier to go back to and replay than this game.

I like WW but I think it has some of the weaker dungeons in the series.
At least Bot W only had one case of "what the heck do you want me to do?" via sequence breaking. When Wind Waker said "Well, you'd better go talk to all the islanders", I stopped playing, because screw that.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. What, you don't naturally talk to every NPC when you play games?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yes.
Which is why I don't want to go do it again, when I already spoke to the rather vast collection of people, and have no idea which ones the game wants me to.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.I didn't like it for a few of the reasons you named but mostly I'm just done with open world games as a genre. They're rapidly becoming more saturated and passe than first-person shooters.

This song needs more love.My favorite part of BotW is cooking food. Does that say anything about the game?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Breath of the Wild is my favorite 3D Zelda because it's constantly engaging me. The exploration feels rewarding, as there's always something to be looking for without feeling like a checklist. The runes are consistently fun to use, both in puzzles and in battle. Combat is overall at its best with clever enemies, though enemy variety is lacking a bit. The puzzles manage to be interesting and often creative without falling into typical Zelda trappings. Dungeons are a bit meh, and shrines don't really replace them fully, but they're still good enough to not really hurt the game seriously.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.I forgot the soundtrack, too. Breath of the Wild has easily the weakest soundtrack in the series.
It actually has some of the best songs in the entire franchise. The only problem is that you rarely hear them.
@Ekimmak: What part are you at? I can just tell you who to talk to.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Now that's where I disagree the strongest. I think BOTW has some of the best music in the franchise. The only problem is that there just isn't enough of it, which is a completely valid criticism.

Honestly I rather like that you don't hear much of the soundtrack
Because when you're not hearing the soundtrack you're hearing the world around you, which I really like. It really helped put me into the experience only hearing the wind, the birds, the waves, and the moblin getting ready to clobber me.
It's just a quiet game, which i personally don't think is a bad thing.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIt's a technique used by a few other games to great effect (i.e Ico and Shadow of the Colossus).
I think the game could have done with some light ambiance music depending on where you are, time of day, and weather conditions. Nothing in-your-face and major but something notable. All we have is being able to hear a bit of the main theme when riding at top speed and hearing the Temple of Time theme played really, really slowly when near the Temple of Time.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Botw is a very good game, but its not my favorite Zelda game and I'd be a bit annoyed if they try and stick too close to that formula with the next console Zelda.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobYeah, BotW is easily one of my favorite games but it doesn't even make the list of my favorite Zelda games simply because it doesn't feel like one at all.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I have to disagree- while it doesn't follow the Zelda formula it definitely feels like a Zelda game. I have to appreciate the fact that they broke away from the roteness of the series and went back to its roots.
It just took more cues from The Legend of Zelda than Ocarina of Time
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI don't actually remember any music from the game. I know where a few songs played, they were just so forgettable.

This song needs more love. It's just really generic compared to previous Zelda games. It doesn't have any cool boss or dungeon themes like the previous games did, the tunes aren't very catchy or memorable, there aren't as many songs as in previous 3D Zelda games, and it goes for too much ambience like pretty much all open world games do these days.
Prince Sidon's Theme, Zora's Domain (Day), Zora's Domain (Night), Attack on Vah Ruta, Mipha's Theme* , and Hyrule Castle.
Just to name a few.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I'd say all the Divine Beast themes are all pretty darn cool once they're filled out. And Hyrule Castle is unquestionably magnificent.
And the Blight boss theme is good, especially when combined, but having just the one is a downside. And I think the final boss theme is fantastic because of all the elements it brings together (the final boss itself... eeeh).

I just hope they don't go for the Breath of the Wild/open-world style forever for 3D Zeldas now...
Sounds like you just dont like exploration games. And that's fine.
Don't know what you mean about enemy variety lacking though, the game has a bevy of unique enemies. I also don't understand how the game is a pain to navigate in when you can teleport to literally any shrine you want.
I for one absolutely love the game for many of the reasons you described. It's not boring in the least, I always feel like I'm discovering something new even after nearly 100 hours of gameplay.
