I like that the writers remembered how much fun the "perfecting the invention" scenes could be and so set up for more!
Finally managed to catch up:
- Oh, Crap!, Wide Wale is the brother of the Dr. Dugong guy from season 3, yikes.
- The Monarch's dad was an homage to The Green Hornet called Blue Morpho.
- Because Monarch shaved his beard short, Billy thinks Rusty's the Blue Morpho. (Didn't anyone else notice that?)
- And Dr. Mrs. The Monarch thinks Monarch's going gay for Gary (21). (Again, no one's talking about that?)
I wonder what Sheila will think when she finds out how her husband's being a good guy...just to be the only bad guy for Rusty...
...Also holy crap, that season 6 announcement did say something about a murderer in blue with a short beard.
And the stuff Brock said to the organtuan man (before Not!Wonder Woman showed up) was also from the season 6 announcement!
Whoa.
The reveal that the two of them are brothers is the next logical step, and will likely lead to something delightfully fucked up.
And it would make the entire saga about a couple of Venture Brothers.
I seem to recall noticing sometime before that Doc and Monarch look pretty similar, but it didn't go anywhere before now.
I came away from the trailer for this season (probably as you're supposed to) thinking that Rusty had gotten something scrambled in his head and become the Blue Morpho as some kind of Freudian subconscious lashing out at the villains that make his life hell.

Fresh-eyed movie blogRegarding your third bullet point: Yes, I don't think many people missed that.
Regarding your fourth: She thinks he went out on the town with him out of spite. She doesn't think he's outright cheating on her. Probably.

Formerly KarmaMeter. The Monarch turning out to be Venture's brother seems a tad too obvious after all this time, methinks.
Cousins, maybe.
And there could actually be a plot point of everyone else assuming that Rusty's the Blue Morpho...
That has to be where they're going with it. That is exactly Rusty's beard.
I'm guessing the Guild is going to make Doc a priority assassination target or something because they think he's killing their own.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThey'd probably also be led to assume that Sgt. Hatred is Kano. I think both Rusty and Hatred were absent right when the Monarch and 21 came in.
...how does The Monarch get away with this? Now, everyone will be on Venture's ass for a misunderstanding.
Yep, I'm still here.Man things are just messing up in all sorts of hilarious ways now!
Not only did Battleaxe mistake Venture for being Blue Morpho, now Dr. Mrs. T.M. thinks this too. And now that Think Tank fella's probably dead now.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefI will be very sad if Think Tank is dead. He's fantastic.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. This episode was a little weaker on the comedic front. The funny of Think Tank was spoiled by the commercials and he wasn't all that great of a villain (though there's something to be said for him presuming Rusty was an intellectual and being all disappointed when Rusty says he doesn't even know Chess).
Think Tank was instantly likable and I think he showed more concern for Dean than anyone on the show ever.
To complete his quote before Rusty interrupted him to call in a complaint to the Guild hotline:
"The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything."
It's a bit dark but I could see the show pulling a "Monarch is actually the true Venture-heir" while Rusty is actually the son of Blue Morpho.
That would be a bizarre twist. That would mean Jonas Jr. was Blue Morpho's son as well. Actually, I could see that being how it was revealed: some video diary somewhere from Jonas Jr. after discovering his true heritage.
Still, not sure what the point would be.
Formerly KarmaMeter. Is Warriana's alter ego supposed to be Arriana huffington. Also her and Brock flirting is cute,
Brock is really off his game this season.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. He's off balance because he's met his match.
Fresh-eyed movie blogDoc and Chris have said before that "Brock beats everyone" is only the rule when he's up against other unpowered humans. Folks like Phantom Limb, Warriana, and Think Tank still stand a chance against him.
Personally, I'm really glad they're keeping Brock out of his element lately.

Formerly KarmaMeter.Do you think, with enough prep time, Brock could beat Captain Sunshine?
"Enough prep time" here would mean that Brock figured out that Sunshine's powers don't work at night, so yes.
I get it though, it's like "Can Batman [with prep time] beat Superman?"
Formerly KarmaMeter.WELP. That's another batch of villains down the crapper!
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefMonarch is LETHAL when he puts his mind to it.
Being honest, Team Arty Villians kinda sucked. Glad they got blown to hell.
Oh, and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch doing the farmer's daughter thing? HOT. AS ALL. HELL.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117
I don't know, I think a guy who'd ask Brock to "Go out and... make some dead people?" for his Venturestein experiments is kind of a villain.
