So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

IV: Cecil and Rydia.
V: Favorite gal is Lenna. I cannot choose a favorite man, however, because I cannot choose between Bartz, Galuf, and Gilgamesh.
VI: Best chick is Terra. Best dude is probably Sabin, or possibly Edgar.
VII: Cloud and Yuffie all the way, just barely beating out Vincent and Tifa respectively.
VIII: Rinoa is best female. Torn between Squall and Laguna on best male.
IX: Zidane and... can't remember now if my favorite female is Dagger or Freya... need to pick up IX again...
X: Tidus and Rikku.
XII: Basch and Ashe, I guess.
XIII: Snow is awesome. Can't really choose between Lightning and Fang, though.

I tried to play FFVII and FFVIII from Steam by logging in with Facebook. It failed several times with each. After filling in the login info, a progress bar stays at 10%, then it goes back to the login screen.

Also, autofire (and button-mashing) doesn't work. The game sends an undodgeable bolt and forces you to start over.

Yuna's Sigil is easy. Rikku's and Auron's (and probably Wakka's, though I haven't gotten his yet) aren't hard, but just time-consuming.
Tidus's can be a bit of a chore, but if you can do it once, it gets easier.
Lightning Dodging and Butterfly Catcher are definitely huge pains, though, and I've never gotten far enough with them to obtain the Venus/Saturn Sigils.
Brightness
I almost finished the Butterfly Catcher the last time I tried, but due to a combination of deuteranomaly (read: my color vision has reduced sensitivity to green) and generally crap picture quality, was unable to find the last butterfly before time ran out. That I can see the difference in Yuna's eyes in the HD trailers gives me hope to actually win that challenge next time.
But seriously, fuck Lightning Dodging.

I've only ever gotten Yuna, Auron, and Rikku's ultimate weapons. I think I ended up making two separate Break Damage Limit weapons for Tidus, though, for Monster Arena purposes. By which point he was so leveled up that the extra damage bonuses from his ultimate weapon didn't matter.

serenitas: Pretty much what I wound up doing for Lulu and Kimahri, since everyone else except Wakka is all set, and the only reason I've never gotten the Jupiter Sigil is because I've just never played that much Blitzball.

One thing I'm looking forward to with the HD remake: you'll most likely be able to skip cutscenes. Now I don't have to rewatch the "religion is evil" speech every time I lose to Yunalesca.
I never managed to beat her. Her party-wide instant death move was a real dick move on the developers' part.

Oh yes. I like them adding scene skipping to their older games when remaking them. Adding scene skippng to Kingdom Hearts 1 was a godsend.

I mean that it comes with absolutely no warning. Defeat her second form, boom, game over. Anyone playing blind would cure the Zombie status she placed on you, especially since she follows up with healing magic. There's no way to guess what's coming up.

I didn't have any trouble at all with Yunalesca. I killed her on my second try, and I died the first time because I didn't have her attack pattern down and thought she would have used a healing spell after I cured everyone's Zombie status, but she used Mega Death instead.
I think Kimahri's sigil challenge is the most reasonable balance between patience (looking at you, Wakka and Lulu), skill (Auron), and luck (Tidus) while still being challenging (Rikku and Yuna). It probably also helps that I used a map that showed where all of the butterflies are, but it still took quite a bit of effort to get through the course fast enough.
Also, I don't think we need to spoiler tag the boss's name. The game is over ten years old by now.
