Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Near the end of Final Fantasy X-2, Shinra discovers Mako energy in the Farplane.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.And from there, it's implied that the people of Spira eventually migrate to The Planet, with Shinra's descendants most likely being Rufus and his pops.
Isn't it explicitely said in the Ultimanias?
:smug:Strongly hinted at by Nojima, so yes. Nojima had some "... or something like that"s and "I think"s in his quote, but there's really no other way alluded to.
Ah, the page 666.
Anyway, so anyway, can anyone remember world of final fantasy that anybody actually liked?
I've noticed that in JRPG, you can generally switch worlds around without anything reallly happening as you don't really get attached to world. What do I mean with "getting attached to world"? Well, for example, in pokemon(probably because of anime :P) kids have fantasies of living in same world as games/anime, maybe just so they would really have pokemon or something. Anyway, point is, I mean that JRPG worlds don't generally create escapism in form of "I want to live in that world"
That's cause they're usually sucky places to live, because narratively, without a crapsack world, what's your hero needed for? Honestly though, Spira and Dream Zanarkand seem like pretty cool places to live, especially if you can fight off fiends. And I wouldn't mind living in IV's world too terribly much, when Baron isn't being jerk-wads.
:smug:Anyone else get a laugh that the most detailed city in FFXII is the one you start in?
Don't you try anything, you baked good you.In terms of what?
Umbran Climax◊All the cities are incredibly detailed...
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Wait huh?
X is VII's Planet in the far past?
Man, what does that mean for Dissidia, then?
I have a message from another time...There's about a thousand years between them and it was Cid that built the first spaceship, iirc.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Final Fantasy worlds that people like? I love Ivalice, especially in XII. It just feels much more like a living, breathing world than any other FF, maybe any other game at all, that I've played.
I personally love Spira. Sure, it's a sucky place to live in (until the Eternal Calm, that is), but a lot of the scenery is so beautiful and idk, it just draws me in.
someday we will foresee obstaclesYeah, Spira was pretty cool. And it had Blitzball. That's got to be the best sport in the history of ever.
Also the deadliest.
Imagine how risky it must be to get hit by a blitzball instead of catching it.
Umbran Climax◊A fair tradeoff for being able to breathe underwater for bursts of 5+ minutes at a time.
You forgot sleeping underwater.
I'm not sure if I'd want to live in any of the FF worlds. They'd be neat places to visit but most of them just aren't my type of place.
And also constantly under the threat of imminent destruction.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistVery true. Got to weigh your pros and cons, after all.
I dunno, in FFX if you don't want to die really badly your soul can gain a physical form and you can become pretty much immortal.
Assuming you're about as strong willed as Auron anyway.
Umbran Climax◊I have a feeling most of us would just go to the Farplane, and the few that did manage to retain some sort of sentience would become fiends.
I'm not sure if I'd like being an Unsent. Things would probably start to edge into Who Wants to Live Forever? territory pretty quick. Especially with Sin killing people left and right.
Well, if you really want to end it, just go talk with a Summoner.
Or someone else who's authorized to Send. Don't ask me who else can Send. All my info on X is secondhand; either from Dissidia, or from my brother watching some of the Spoony review.
And even I can tell what the laughing scene was supposed to be doing.
I have a message from another time...
Best-worst out of place continuity ever.
Umbran Climax◊
