Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Oh, nah.
Its a dungeon where the locked doors are a series of math problems. It tells you all the numbers you need to know at the start of the dungeon and can readily return to it. With the exception of questions like 'how much gil have you earned in the dungeon' and 'how many battles you had since you entered the dungeon' those numbers are always changing from the cheat sheet and the door asking the question... unless you use the encounter-none accessory since the answer is always 0.

At least you don't have to play Blitzball Manager 2004 for 100%.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.I don't understand why they went that route with Bliztball in X-2
I mean they make a fucking special Dream match team encounter... but YOU don't get to play it.
... gawd what if they did put a dress sphere connected to Bliztball!
it be so much worse then Sphere Break
Sphere Break was awesome and I will duel anyone who says otherwise.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerAs much as I dislike X-2's Blitzball, it could at least go by extremely quick. Once you've gotten over the initial hurdle of "holy shit none of you could outplay a drowning toddler what do I even do"-tier stats, you can fast-forward through however many games it takes to get 3 AP Eggs.
I'm kind of surprised Square never made a dedicated Blitzball game though. Though the X incarnation would be too basic for a stand-alone game, and perhaps adding a Z-axis would make the game too complex by itself.
I always thought Blitzball in X was kinda silly. It's like, "EA Sports Tactics".
I also really enjoyed Sphere Break once I got my head around it.
Holy shit, FFXIV added Yiazmat
Who dat?
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!They were a Bonus Boss in FFXII from what I'm remembering. A rather infamous one at that for having mammoth HP and taking hours to kill.
They were FFXII's time sink, no challenge bonus boss.
All signs point to Sephiroth being in the next patch, too. I wish I was being facetious but it's almost certainly going to happen.

LET THE LONG ONSLAUGHT BEGIN
Now you know how much I love Yiazmat

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Can't wait to brawl for four hours!
I feel like I should point out that the XIV Yiazmat fight can be done in like 8 minutes with a good group.
This song needs more love.Well that's a relief. Especially for those who hated Yiazmat.
I remembered and rewatched the Agni's Philosophy tech demo today, it'd be cool if the next FF was set in that world. I doubt that'll happen though.
Would you guys like to see more M-rated Final Fantasies? (Type-0 was rated M)
As long as its handled closer to the darker parts of XIV rather then Type-0. Not that all of Type-0 was senseless grimdark, the opening is genuinely powerful in its message but nothing else in the game hits quite the same.

JRPGs that are rated M seem to mostly be incidentally so, rather than any genuine attempt at more mature storytelling or subject matter, Type Zero and its try hard overdone gore aside.

Not really. I'm not against it but I'm not particularly interested in more M-rated games just for their own sake. M-ratings aren't necessarily a mark of quality. Type-0 certainly didn't benefit much from its M-rating. I don't think an M-rating is necessary to touch on darker themes either, although it does help. A game's rating isn't very important to me, the gameplay and writing are.

The only real M-rated JRPG series of note I can think of is Nier. The Persona games get M-ratings in the west but it's a pretty light M at that.
I'm not really too fussed either way; I have nothing against the idea of an M-rated FF game but my bigger question would be "is the M-rated content handled even remotely well?". M-rated JRPG's are very rare and honestly about the only people at SE I would trust with that kind of material are the XIV guys.

You're talking about it as if it's Shadow the Hedgehog.
Ehh its only bad if you don't write down the numbers...
