Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

X was actually pretty good about involving almost all the races in the main plot.
X-2 was an overall sloppier game, so it's no surprise they were all left out beyond side quests.
The Guado were collectively waiting to die.
The Ronso were struggling to survive with most of their population wiped out and Kimahri was trying to stop their rage vs the Guado with Yuna's help. Aside from the blitzball team, Kimahri and a few others no one left alive had ever left the mountain. The two Ronso youth though were making slowly making strides themselves in Spira depending on how Yuna directs them, greater Spiran politics were probably the least of their concerns.
The aquatic races like Hypello and Peruperu really don't have much interest in land politics, we never actually get to see any of their towns and such, which are obviously underwater.
Al Bhed however were the opposite, they instantly and forcefully integrated to the point of hostile takeover with the Machine Faction and Cid's Zanarkand scheme. The latter Yuna forces Cid to back off of.

The Peruperu live underwater?
The ronso situation in particular is really strange - Ronso youth could of easily been tied into the Youth League - New Yevon conflict, and by extension the Guado as well. I could see the latter throwing themselves at NY out of desperation. What kind of race collectively agrees that one dude's misdeeds are enough for all of them to die? There's nothing about the Guado that would suggest they're that kind of people.
I would assume so considering the only one we see's relationship with the Hypello and the duck theme.
It wasn't one dude's misdeeds. The Guado wiped out Home, blindly followed Seymour and collectively ignored and destroyed evidence of murder, and many more events that only get implied.
Also Guado were super religious. They got converted by Seymour's father and well their religion was a lie, that had to hit hard in the depression department especially to the point that they did ethnic cleansing for said religion that was a lie.

I still wish I could play FFXIV as one of the beast tribe races.
Except that would probably break the story super hard if that was available from the start.
Except there ARE peaceful relations with some of them, like the Goblins, some Sylphs, and some Kobolds.
I have a message from another time...I wanna be a Moogle then.
If there was an Ivalice MMO I also would play a moogle there but Ivalice moogles are the best moogles.
Wait, Viera are an all female race.
Do we ever find out how they...?
I probably shouldn't think about this too much, huh? I've been playing too much Mass Effect...
No they're not. Female and male viera live apart from each other.
Heart of StoneHuh. Did not know that. I've only ever seen female viera from my experience with FFTA and XII.
Male Viera are hidden away because they're rare or something.
Gotta keep those man parts safe or extinction might happen.
Same with the cat people in XI. Probably goes for XIV as well.

Setsuna looks pretty cute... Might download it once I see some more footage.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerTheatrhyrhm Arcade website opened. PS 4 port in the future?
By the way, it's unlikely we'll get another game with Matsuno. Unlike Sakaguchi he actually burned all his bridges(and that kickstarter he was part of just got cancelled after ages without info).
Matsuno has worked with Square after XII though, he developed several mobile titles for them.
He has said IIRC that he'll never work on another home console game for them(and his last game with them was 6 years ago IIRC).
"The only good Al Bhed is an Al Dead, right brudda?
"*Sigh*...Bleeeeeeeeetzboooooooooowl..."
...
I don't think I would've terribly minded going through my entire life without ever seeing an HD Calcabrina.

If only I had the time and money for XIV.
I just have to settle for playing the soundtrack on Audiosurf 2.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.I think Wakka gets a lot of flak for being racist against the Al Bhed because he's a party member. The rest of Spira is pretty racist against them as well. They just don't bring it up all the time since they're not guarding a Summoner party.
Yeah, the counterparts of the Galkans and Mithra have both genders as playable.
If they ever do introduce a beast race, I think the best way to do it would be to have a whole other leveling experience for them
But that would be a ton of work for not a lot of pay off.
I don't think the Al Bhed count as a different race so much as a different culture of Spira's humans.
