Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Oh, and SE are releasing a official Triple Triad game with cards based on most FF games.
edited 18th Nov '14 11:02:40 AM by LordofLore
But will the cards have a backside, a red side and a blue side?
I sure said that! So, who likes Type-0 and XV news? Anyone? Well I do, so without further ado, Square Enix presents Final Fantasy Type-0 with Hajime Tabata:
Also, for you damn lazy people who can't be assed to watch an hour long video, Type-0 trailer to be in the previews for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part I!
And in XV news, Episode Duscae will not release immediately with Type-0 come March, it will be 1-4 hours long depending on how adventurous you are, and finally, it will be "available for a limited time."

No. But I'll let you know the instant I find anything about it.

How come Marche isn't the main villain in FF 12? I mean, in his first appearance, he tried to destroy Ivalice in some mad belief that the world is some illusion. Or at least, that's what he'd seem like to the main characters in FF 12.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great...sigh.
Okay, once more.
Ivalice in Tactics Advance is not the same Ivalice in XII, Revenant Wings, Tactics, or Tacics A2.
In Tactics Advance, Marche and co. unwittingly use the power of the Gran Grimoire, which warps their world according to their desires.
In Tactics A2, Luso finds the Grimoire of the Rift, which transports him into the world of Ivalice as seen in XII, Revenant Wings, etc.
The only thing Tactics Advance's Ivalice shares is the name.
I have a message from another time...And races, geography, history, magic etc.
My point is, the guy's gotta be seen as some horrific monster in the eyes of the populace. And the fact that he's doing all this raping and pillaging and murdering before puberty, Marche is basically Joffrey Baratheon.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI don't think so? None of the locations or events are shared with any other Ivalice game, with the possible exception of mythology gag bit from TA 2's version of Montlanc.
In any case, Tactics Advance outright shows the world being warped and humans being morphed into Ivalice races.
I have a message from another time...So that justifies slaughtering whole villages? St. Ivalice was a shithole town, why would you want to live there instead of the actual country?
And I notice you have no response to the meat of my point, that even if that Ivalice was a dream world, it was real to the inhabitants, and Marche just murdered them if they wouldn't join his Mongol horde. He sees them as not real, so that justifies wanton slaughter and destruction in his eyes. The kid's a sociopath at best, who insists on doing horrible things because things aren't the way he thinks they should be.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIvalice is an illusion, that's why the place you fight the Totema are called Seams and the Crystals themselves are called the Threads, because they are what bind Saint Ivalice with a blanket of illusion. Marche's whole town is trapped turned into monsters and he's the only one in the grimoire group with enough grip over his problems to say "Hey this isn't right guys."
Well, not all were turned into monsters.
Mostly the people Mewt was mad at at the time.
edit:
Basically, they had a choice of which reality was to die and which was to remain. Inaction would mean choosing the book's reality.

I have a message from another time...No, instead he deals with his problems by killing people. Wait..
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWell, if he's in a Jagd.
In any case, Vaan's Ivalice never actually intersects with Mewt's.

I have a message from another time...Then he's no better than the other warmongers or raiders plaguing the land.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWhat a great place to live.
edit: wait. Actualy, even if he's in a Jagd, his opponents still show up again later, like the repeat offender airship hit-and-run.

I have a message from another time...@maxwellelvis: Wait, how was St. Ivalice a terrible town? It looked like a normal suburb to me. In any case, you seem to think that killing off the inhabitants of a town is perfectly fine if the town is less exciting than a fantasy world.
Also, the Ivalice of Tactics had no intelligent race other than humans. Though, that makes me wonder how Luso and Balthier ended up there.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Tactics is far in the future, after a lot of the magic has gone away.
Luso got there through an interdimensional rift opened by the book he found.
I have a message from another time...Looked like a crumbly old town in a freezing winter. Anything's better than that.
Then how do you explain the mole-people, lizard-people, rabbit-women, and of course Moogles?
And of course in the future it's wrecked and the magic's gone. Thanks, Marche.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatBy the time of Final Fantasy Tactics there was apparently an Apocalypse in Ivalice (Apparently caused by Saint Ajora) that wiped out most of the magic and technology in the world at least that's what the lore says.
Luso is implied to have come to the wrong time in Ivalice after trying to come back with the Grimoire of the Rift while Balthier being there is lampshaded as not making sense and being a mere cameo role
Also Marche doesn't even kill people in the Jagd, he takes them to the Judges to be sentenced after the battle. Enemies are lucky he shows them courtesy they wouldn't show him.

[edi: wait, wrong thing]
Well, they couldn't have a game without the leading man.

I have a message from another time...It's not really a town's fault that it gets cold for three months every twelve.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Of course not, it's Marche's fault.

I have a message from another time...Why would Marche put his faith in Judges he doesn't think exist?

A little from column A, a little from column B.
