Nice work!
I'm a little fascinated by how this series seems to have very few but very firmly ingrained rumors in it, like the claim that the Dragonlord originally didn't go all One-Winged Angel in the original Japanese release of Dragon Quest I.
I sure said that! The funny thing about that hoax? It was based on a completely-made-up backstory for the Dragonlord in one of the American manuals.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Kind of helps that, until the DS version was released, very few ever actually played the original game.
One of the earliest sources of the Bianca hoax was apparently an online FAQ that predated even the fan translation, let alone the official one.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."So, Dragon Quest VII came out in the US this past Friday. Anybody else pick it up? I'm about three hours into it now and I'm loving it.
Yeah I've picked it up been loving what I've played so far just got Gabo/Ruff.
Did they fix the pacing issues right at the start?
I sure said that!I played the original Dragon Quest in the GBC two-in-one game.
I never did beat II. :(
The Protomen enhanced my life.I've never played the original PS 1 version, so I wouldn't know. I do know it takes a good hour, hour and half until you actually fight your first battle.
All I know about the PS 1 version is it's really, really, really, REALLY long.
The Protomen enhanced my life.it seems unlikely they'd fix the pacing at the start of the game. its pretty much all story after all and the only thing they could really do to it would be to either cut out plot (not happening) or add monsters (which probably would not help)
Fair enough, I suppose.
I sure said that!Apparently the epically long opening has been cut down. It's still a slower opening than most games but you can apparently get to the combat/main story much faster.
Don't know the details though; DQ is a purchase I'm saving for my next break.
So I decided to try out this series a few months ago and I can safely say that I'm hooked.
So far I've played through I and V and I'm currently playing through II at the moment. I also got VII and I plan on playing it once I finish III (which will be after I'm done with II).
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.Been playing through VII so far, found it fairly easy so far. How long until the difficulty starts knocking down my party?
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.I picked it up yesterday, but won't be getting my hands on it for a week or so.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Well that's II complete. I thought it was pretty fun. In the version I was playing (the ios version) alot of the NPC's had quite a bit to say after I'd taken down Hargon and Malroth. There few instances of repeated dialouge but over all it was pretty neat to see some of the woes of the NPC's solved by the end of the game.
Now to play Dragon Quest III...
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.I played Dragon Quest 9 In the past, and thought it was one of the DS's best. So, should I play the 3DS ports of 7 and 8? I've heard 8 is supposed to be one of the best in the series.
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"Hold on a minute. VII finally has a translation? I thought I'd never see the day. I am going to place an order right away.
VII is finally out yes, and it's quite good. Menus can be a bit slow though.
And yes VIII is the best in the series.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.playing monsters: caravan hearts
it is an incredibly aggravating start, even for a DQ game.
- battles give 4-8 gold at most
- rations deplete extremely quickly
- you can get a merchant at the 2nd town, but his recruit condition was arbitrary i didnt trigger it till i saw the merchant caravan a 2nd time, across a desert
- using merchant to get more money requires putting him in battle, at the expense of your firepower
- the encounter rate is actually too low if you stick to the plain terrain
- the ration depletion rate is actually way, way too high if you go on non-plain terrain
i am perpetually poor and starving.
Oh boy, that sounds insane. I had a lot of trouble with Dragon Quest 9's prices on equipment and weapons, but 8-4 gold per battle? That's a biiiit overkill, isn't it?

"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"it is very overkill in this case. im hoping once i get past the desert at least, i can start raking in a minimum of 2 digits, but im not holding out hope. for now i'm retreating to 2-gold land and taking everyone except the merchant out of my party, see if i can just grind that one battle for more cash
Good luck!
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"
So I just nuked every reference on the Wiki I could find that presents the Bianca's-life-gets-ruined hoax as fact.
I have to say, you gotta respect someone who can perpetrate a hoax that lasting, whoever they were.
