ROTATIONAL INPUTS SUCK
Now that that's out of the way, I agree. This game's got more story than I've ever seen in a (non-licensed) fighting game.

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!I AM HAKU-MEN!
Hakumen comes from:
Haku(white)+Kamen(mask),...The White Mask. it means
Jin Kisaragi was born in February-> IIRC Kisaragi is an archaic form of saying february
more trivia coming soon...

Don't have the system, I'll probably grab Continuum Shift when it comes out.
I played it at a friend's house. I'm maining Taokaka.
BAAA-BA-BA-BANG!
I didn't get to play the game much though, it was a friend's rental. Good game, though not the sort I'd ever be good at.
I've been thinking about getting it. Jin looks crazy-fun. Which version y'all have?
The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith.Standard, North American release. I main Taokaka so far, but Hakumen looks interesting. I'm working my way through all the characters' arcade modes.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.I meant PS 3 vs. 360, haha. If I'm gonna get it I'd like to be able to take you guys on. >.>
The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith.I has the PS3 version FIGHT ME NOOB AHAAHAHAHAHAHA
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat! In that case... it's the 360 version. I looked at the PS 3, but there's a cost issue there.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.I play it on xbox......
Wicked: INFERNO DIBAIDA!
Melty Blood has more story. In fact, Blaz Blue's entire story mode reminded me of Melty Blood, in style and presentation. Not that that's a bad thing.
Uh... trivia. Litchi's moves are all named after Mahjong hands.
I've never played Melty Blood.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Melty Blood is a continuation of related media, however. It's connected to Tsukihime at the hip.
This is stand-alone.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit. It's still a hell of a lot story for a Fighting game, and there's a lot of characters exclusive to it that reach similar levels of development to the Tsukihime ones. Some of them.
Melty Blood doesn't really rely on the story of Tsukihime and could probably stand on its own. It just wouldn't have very many characters.
Anyway, I regret bringing that up. I really liked the fact that Blaz Blue's story mode actually had a story, and not just a recap of what was in the manual or anything like that. This is a fighting game that can actually use spoiler warnings! And that's awesome.
Just finished Arcade with Hakumen. I'm sure it's normal not to be too comfortable with him after a mere hour or two of playing him, but I'm still not quite sure what to do when I enter Mugen mode. I mostly just try Crimson-Lotus or Dash-Hades-Firefly-B-down-C-repeat... Also getting off his super-counter and having it matter is difficult. You're basically relying on your enemy trying to hammer you in the face. CPUs seem far less likely to do that than humans.
Edit: After trying out his Astral Heat in training mode, I have this to say: One, it's very hard to pull off successfully, and takes far too much timing and practice to have a chance of pulling off normally.
Meanwhile there is something seriously wrong with it being so easy to pull off using the R stick. (R stick down special)

Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit. It's not like Astral Heats are actually useful. They're more for showing off than anything.
Of course, but there you go. Anyhow, I'm planning to use all the Astral Heats at least once, albeit likely mostly against CPU opponents.
Actually, I realized after a bit that you could do it quite effectively by rolling behind the opponent and coming up with that move. It gives you just enough time to get it off.
For that matter, it also lets you do a Yukikaze or a plain old Zanshin, as the enemy is quite likely to try and attack the moment you come back from that roll.

Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.I keep on trying to play Ice Car Guy (fuck me if I can remember his name) like Ky-Kiske but NO THIS GAME IS DIFFERENT FUCK ME MY SKILLS ARE USELESS.
Yeah, I love this game and Guilty Gear, but I don't actually own them and so don't play often.
HAKUMEN!
I tend not to use special attacks with him...
in Online you can't use the R stick to play specials...

Good, because I don't like the R-stick easy mode.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.I like easy mode! I've always felt that the challenge of a game should never lie in its interface, and the annoying inputs have turned me off fighting games for quite a while.
Since I don't see a general thread for this game, I figured why not? There's been plenty of talk about the game elsewhere on the fora, so here's a place to stick it all where it won't get lost.
Personally I'm very impressed with this game, as it's the first fighting game I've seen in a long while that actually bothers to create a decent story, and the character interaction is superb. You get the feeling that these people really do know each other, and it's far more personal than many earlier games. Of course, it helps that this is by the same folks who did the Guilty Gear series. (Why yes, I did manage not to play any of those games. :( )
