It’ll be nice to see such an important era in this universe…

How dark do we think it’ll go?

If I had to guess it will be around Andor level, since it is crime thriller about rising dark powers.

And we're finally getting a live action Wookie Jedi!

Given the sheer number of Jedi in the cast and the time frame, I fully expect some of them not to make it to the end of the show.

Oh. This is gonna be good.

...for the forces of darkness that is.

For everyone else in universe, things are likely going to go pear shaped very soon.

[up] Here’s the synopsis from Deadline:

The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

So basically a cop show, but with a likely chance of Sith.

I wonder how much worse it could get considering that based on what I know, just a century earlier, the Jedi had to deal with the Nameless.

Maybe it'll be revealed that Nameless are an ancient Sith bioweapon? I can't completely rule that out just because of the whole "threat to Force-users with their presence alone" thing. Jedi who've tapped into the Dark Side (or completely embraced in Azlin Rell's case) are the only ones who've overcome the hallucinations without someone else to bail them out of trouble. It wouldn't mean the Sith are immune to their deadlier effects, however, as we've seen with the Mother and the Path of the Open Hand's more zealous closet Force-users like Binnot Ullo.

[up][up]that would be an interesting bit of canon welding, but i doubt theyll tie anything to the High Republic books or comics.

I do think there's a nonzero chance we see Huyang though.

Yeah, I agree that they're probably not going to explicitly tie any of the other High Republic villains' lore to the Sith either.

Like, we'll we'll probably see relics of the High Republic books' stories in the show: relics from the fights against the Nihil and Drengir and so on a hundred years later, that sort of thing. Characters are probably going to talk a lot about Avar Kriss and her adventures, namedrop High Republic heroes, do all sorts of things along those lines.

But we're probably not going going to see the Levelers, or Path Engines, or Drengir and so on be retconned into actually being Sith experiments or ideas and such, since the entire point of those threats was to be entirely removed from the Sith in the first place.

[up][up]I do hope the Nihil eventually get a live action depiction of their own some day. They're one of the better depictions of Space Pirates ive seen recently and a very good opponent for the Jedi that isnt just Dark Jedi/Sith/those other Space Pirates from I, Jedi.

To bring things a little more on topic, i am pretty pumped about this cast. Itll be interesting to see how Stebberg and Lee play off each other.

This is also set at the END of the High Republic, which is about 100 years after where the current High Republic stuff is set.

[up][up] Depending on what exactly is crime spree they are investigating, I could see some criminal group which sprang from Nihil (probably by their leader being former member) as secondary or one episode villains.

This isn't about good or bad, its about power and who's allowed to use it.

Isn't that the same thing?

Looks intriguing but, It might just be me, but I think the lighting in the live shows could use some improvement. This is supposed to be the golden age of the Republic and Jedi, plus it would really help contrast the returning evil.
