I want to preface this by saying fuck having to make this thread in particular.

Anyways, YMMV.Helldivers has some stuff relating to real life subjects that I'm unsure if they count as a violation of ROCEJ or not, if it's Flame Bait or not, or if it's just something that has to be removed or not - given how volatile discussions on the subject in question could get, as well as just how it may be written or not.

* Harsher in Hindsight
** In Helldiver 2, which came out on February of 2024, the terminids have broken out of factory-farms established on their own home planets by humanity, causing Super Earth to indiscriminately bomb the entire species, this just so happens to be a popular interpretation of the 2023-2024 Israel-Palestine warnote  in Gaza.
*** Does not help that the terminids are used to harvest a source of oil for Super Earth.
** In the first game, Super Earth declares war on the Cyborgs/Automatons because of a terrorist attack which killed thousands of civilians... according to Super Earth. Story bits through the game suggests the attack only killed like 8 civilians, was not caused by anyone affiliated with the Cyborg nation and even implied to have been an inside job for the sake of having a war. Any citizen on the internet qestioning the official story is put down as a "Cyborg sympathizer" or "Hippie" and a politician openly boasts his desire to have any such citizen executed. Harkening back to conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 and... a second, popular interpretation of the 2023-2024 Israel-Palestine "War" in Gaza.
*** The Illuminate have also been targetted by Super Earth because, officially, they have a powerful nano-fusion device that could generate enough power destroy a planet easily. In other words, a Weapon of Mass Destruction. They did not, Super Earth simply felt threatened by a species they were forced to accept as intellectual equals. This sort of "War on terror" politics and deception is the clear focus of the games satire but has been brought up into public conciousness yet again.... due to popular interpretations of the 2023-2024 Israel-Palestine "War" in Gaza.

So I just want to make sure if anything here actually constitutes as a violation of policy or not, or if it should just be removed to avoid flaming.

If a mod could give a straight answer and then lock the thread, that would be swell.

Seems like someone removed it, so if a mod can send this post to the morgue then that would be great.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but Helldivers II is currently having some controversy due to the plans to forbid players from playing unless they log in with a PlayStation Network account. There's been some knee-jerk edits on the YMMV and Trivia pages, and there'll probably be more, so keeping an eye on them would be a good idea.

I think it would be best to completely avoid bringing the PSN integration up on any page until the story develops more. (Either the PSN requirement is officially added to the game, or the plans are officially canceled.)

I'd say lock both pages because this is sounding similar to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Now it was just confirmed that Sony won’t be going forward with the changes to PSN account requirements.

That must be pretty awkward for the people adding all that stuff about it onto the page. Should I cut the entries mentioning it?
