I understand you are usually supposed to put purposed tropes in the Trope Launch Pad, but I think it will be useful to hold some discussion and collaboration with other users to get a new trope started.

So, this trope is about deer, and its specifically about when deer or deer motifs are played for horror instead of marvel or [[Bambification cuteness.]]. Ideas for a protentional trope name include "Sinister Cervids" or "Creepy Cervids".

For an in-depth explanation on this protentional trope, deer aren't usually the sweet creatures we make them out to be. Deer can often be very dangerous and violent creatures, and in some mythologies, they even have ties with the underworld or The Fair Folk.

So, what are your thoughts on protentional for this as a trope? Do you have more suggestions for the definition of this trope, and could you help provide more information on this subject?

(Note: The trope label may be considered not meaningful enough if if most of the characters in the work are already cervids, or if you simply have a deer that is NOT played for cuteness or sympathy.)

(Note 2: Can be considered a Super-Trope to Sinister Deer Skull and be put within Mammal Tropes.)

Potentional Examples:

Myth.Native American Mythology: Some more recent depictions of the Windigo from Algonquian folklore fall into this trope, as they are embodiments of famine and cannibalism who are sometimes depicted with deer motifs, including a Sinister Deer Skull. This entity is so feared that it's often considered taboo to mention it out loud. However, this is a relatively recent addition to the entity's folklore, with the earliest depictions of deer motifs on it dating back to only the 2000s.

Literature.Ars Goetia: The Ars Goetia features Furfur, a demonic Earl of Hell that resembles a winged deer.

WesternAnimation.Hazbin Hotel: The demon Alastor is a cervid overlord of Hell who is perceived as The Dreaded by other characters due to his immense power.

This is not the place for this; it's a Forum Games section. Please use the Trope Launch Pad.
