Yeah, Devil in Plain Sight’s examples seem messy. It’s laconic also describes it like a non-YMMV version of Obvious Judas.

As I understand it Devil in Plain Sight is when the audience is supposed to know they are a villain though the characters all fail to pick it up, while Obvious Judas is when it's intended to be a twist to the audience as well as the characters.

Many of the entries for Devil in Plain Sight seem to miss the point of the trope — they discuss instances of villains doing a good job of Hiding in Plain Sight, when the point of the trope is that they are doing a very poor job of concealing their villainy, at least from the audience.
