Do you ever love a song when you’re first listening to it, but there’s one part (whether a lyric, a musical interlude, or even an instrument) that doesn’t work with you at all? Well you can mention any here!

For me personally, I really love Check Yo’ Self. One of his best songs, right until the third verse where he goes on a tirade about sex workers. It just… ruins the mood, y’know?

The Art of Subconscious Illusion and Forgotten Faces by Avenged Sevenfold are fucking awesome until the halfway point when everything slows down. This usually isn't bad, but they still act like they have some energy inside and have a tempo that's slower. Not a fan imo.

i85mixxextended by Material Girl is godlike... except for the last 4 or so minutes, which are just comprised of nigh-atonal electroacoustic stuff. not my kinda thing.

thinking of ways by the boo radleys

gorgeous atmosphere, nice baroque textures, but i cant get past the weird dissonant guitar in the crescendo. like normally i'd love something like this but it doesn't fit the sound of the song at all and it kinda ruins the climax for me

i think i’m in love (probably just hungry)

I really like the first half of “Layla” by Derek & The Dominos, I’m not so keen on the second half which is an instrumental that’s completely different to the former; wish Spotify and Apple Music could make an edited version available for download!

Part 2 of Mr. Bill's Screening - https://youtu.be/RAFqjL57LaM?si=PlZzAuR6F8GGcZTy

Part 1 featuring Funi is a pretty good intro-like song for Part 2, and for a majority of the song it's a really good 5 minute listen... until about 3 minutes and 6-ish seconds in where all of a sudden you hear all this knocking on what sounds like a bunch of surfaces.

Normally that wouldn't be a issue, but here are the problems:

1. It's loud as fuck, not earrape loud or anything but still loud.

2. It's EXTREMELY sudden, out of nowhere and will most likely catch you off guard the first time you listen to it.

3. And this is more of a personal one, but listening to this for the first time at 3am in the evening, in the dark, eyes closed and all alone, almost made me shit myself lol.

I come from a country with a pretty high crime rate, so hearing random gunshots at night is pretty normal and par for the unfortunate course. Hell, hearing some drunk asshole knock on your door at sunrise isn't as usual but it can happen here.

So when I listened to what I feel is a relatively chill song and I hear this shit, my fight or flight response triggered like no other, I was literally thinking that I was being robbed or something (which is stupid because let's be honest who the hell would knock on your door or windows if they were planning on robbing you?), and so after ripping off my earphones before I could listen to the rest of the song I spent the next couple of minutes to an hour sneaking around my house looking outside for a phantom thief.

Next to Golden Gate this is my favorite song from Mr Bill but I have so much trouble listening to it when basically kicks what might as well be a somewhat traumatic response.

Okay, I only like half of Alastor's Game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTbfw8_SMmI

I like the parts from 0:00-0:45 and 1:07-1:45 and 2:43-end where it's a really catchy electroswing beat and it's of Alastor manipulating and duping two people into giving their souls to him. That's the part I like, it's the rest of the song I just can't stand. It's a sudden shift to a heavy metal and it's just really jarring. I get what it's going for; the electroswing bits showing his outer charismatic persona and the heavy metal parts showing who he truly is on the inside. But even with that I just feel that the lyrics for the heavy metal sections are basically "Mwahaha I'm so uber-powerful and you're all fucked." which isn't that interesting to me. If it was just one section of the song I could forgive it I think there's more of it than the parts I actually like.

And speaking of Hazbin Hotel, there's a fansong from its sister series Helluva Boss, Root of All Evil-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_V-bWRHRcs. It's super good for the first 4 minutes. It's got a really catchy beat and has really good singing. But then for the last 40 seconds, there is a VERY SUDDEN shift in the beat and I don't know how to describe it but it sounds like complete ass. It's like it was taken from some other song and hastily edited it into this song to make it fit.

How do you Sleep? - Sam Smith

I think it would be one of the best songs that Sam Smith would have recorded, probably I can support some moments with the autotune (does he really needs autotune?...), then we move to the chorus that has a Wham! feeling.. then... it comes that one part..

(insert robotic Tell me how do you...)

And then it becomes tooooooooo... electric... I lost the point... probably if he wants to do something for dance, he would, but the lyrics are too strong to keep the feeling it has in the first part...

(probably i am too old and fed up for the chirpy tones that producers began introducing in the '10s...)

Pluggnb's Stay the Night remix has a nice beat and could have been really nice... had the guy decided not to put Bass Boosts all over it. The boosts are too distracting and it overshadows the tune. It feels like it was thrown in haphazardly.
