Tropetown: Escape from Sitcom (OPEN)

Our story takes place in the town of Tropetown, a town where various Tropers live and laugh their way through life! However, something is amiss in this town… Ever notice how you can hear people laughing after saying something? How come you can hear it, but everyone else can’t? How about the fact some music plays every time you enter a location? Do you even feel like you see someone familiar in the mirror? Almost as if it’s… the real you?

You will have to navigate this town, as well as go on crazy adventures, to find out the truth!

Beware, however… someone or some’’thing’’ seems to enjoy what you do… and will stop at nothing to make sure you stay.

This RP is inspired by Wanda Vision (if you couldn’t tell). You are trapped in an animated sitcom without your true memories or identity, and it’s sort of a comedy-mystery-horror deal.

I'm interested, but would like to know more about the setting. What kind of characters will be playable? Normal humans, or possibly other kinds of characters? And what do you mean by putting the outside information in spoilers- do you want us to include the real-world info but spoiler tag it, or just leave it off because that's not what this particular form is for?

You can be anything you want. Think TADC or Gumball. In spoilers, put a form displaying your identity in the real world.

Currently trying to think of what kind of character I want to be. I think a fun idea would be to have a character with a Fourth-Wall Mail Slot where they answer questions "sent in by fans".

That sounds really cool, honestly. Like if people still thought they were their other self. If you want to do it, go right ahead.

Well I have an idea of being a stereotypical wacky and/or Nosy Neighbor that always gets into other people’s business. I might write more about it in the description box.

I'll be playing the mayor of Tropestown. I'm just a crazy, wacky guy who may or may not be an interdimensional entity who ends up starting the action in some of the episodes.

I'll also be the omnipresent narrator that uses your episode ideas for this RP!

Name: Stuart Chunder

Appearance: A tall burly man with wide shoulders but thin as a toothpick, like a stereotypical lumberjack. He has reddish-brown hair let loose that leads into a beard that never fully grows. Always seen in the same too-large purple sweater with the image of a heart on it and leather jeans.

Age: Said to be in his fifties, but looks way younger.

Occupation: Never explicitly stated, but is probably construction given his abilities with tools

Personality: Stuart is a doting, but kind family man. He wants to look out for his wife Patty and their son Dalton, but often he (comedically) neglects his family’s needs to be a part of whatever the main plot is going on. He is the stubborn fool of the cast, the first to agree and the last to budge on any issue, and acts like the leader when he actually has little experience with the issues. All in all, he is the butt of many jokes.

The Real Them: Stuart is actually a Gym instructor by the name of James Bjornson. In the real world, James is a dedicated family man to his two kids despite being divorced for several years. Yet he always felt that he could be better and has faced a lot of issues of toxic masculinity, which bleed into Stuart in his macho attitude.

Name: Jonas Greenfeld

Appearance: A young looking, decently built man. Has dark brown hair, a goatee, and usually wears a blue jacket, with a white undershirt of some random underground band. Is around 5'11, and has a slightly unnerving stare.

Age: He doesn't tell, but he appears to be around 24-28.

Occupation: He's a Mechanic, specifically with vehicles and sometimes refrigerators.

Personality: He's a no-nonsense kind of guy, usually the straight man when compared to his peers and neighbors. He has no family, and tends to go with the flow most of the time. Can get very engrossed in things he cares about, often neglecting most other responsibilities to get that one thing done. He has never engaged in any romantic relationships, stating that, for some reason, it just doesn't feel right.

The Real Him: His real name is Theo Imeson. He is a petty criminal, who hotwired cars and stole things for the gang he worked for. He didn't enjoy it much, though. He became determined to get out of the world of crime after he met Leila, the love of his life. He is also a big fan of underground rock bands.

Name: Savannah Windemere Albin

Appearance: A willowy girl with long, wavy brown hair and deep blue eyes. Her art style is more like that of an old shoujo anime than a typical cartoon. She has a wide variety of outfits, with the one constant presence in her look being a decorative hairclip of the letter S (for "Savannah" obviously).

Age: 16

Occupation: A student at Tropetown High School, and daughter of the wealthy business owners Daniel Albin and Elizabeth Windemere.

Personality: Savannah is the Class Princess through and through. Blessed with good looks and a privileged upbringing, she's a diligent student and talented tennis player. She thinks the world of her parents, and won't stand to hear anything disparaging said about them- despite the fact that they're often too busy with their corporate duties to spend time with her personally, instead delegating their parental roles to the family's android butler, Milo.

Savannah considers herself something of a junior philanthropist, often getting involved in various worthy causes around Tropetown- though as she does so, she generally makes sure to keep a lot of the attention on herself. She has a large group of friends, who often share the latest gossip with her, making her quite knowledgeable about the lives of many of the townspeople, even those she doesn't interact with much. If someone's having some trouble, and one of Savannah's friends hears about it, Savannah may well decide to swoop in to help.

Of course, Savannah has plenty of admirers as well, and she regularly receives fan mail. She hosts a regular web show, Sincerely, Savannah, where she answers some of these letters. Curiously, though, almost all the letters she gets (which are pre-screened by Milo to keep the creeps at bay) come from outside of Tropetown, many of them from places she's never heard of- and they often seem to be the kinds of questions she'd get if she were a cartoon character with a Fourth-Wall Mail Slot segment. Still, she does her best to answer the questions, and usually doesn't think much about the specifics afterwards.

While she always projects a highly self-confident image, Savannah doesn't take her advantages in life entirely for granted. Keeping up her reputation and her place at the top of the Popularity Food Chain is hard work. And somewhere inside, well-hidden from the world and often from Savannah herself, is a sense that she doesn't deserve any of it, and that any one crack in her perfection could be the one to bring it all crashing down...

Real Self: Savannah's real-world self is Peter Doyle, a man who is quite unlike Savannah in most respects. He's in his mid-30s but doesn't really have his life together. He works a boring office job, lives with his parents, and doesn't have much of a social life. He mainly enjoys video games and superhero shows and movies.

Name: Agent Johnson J. Johnson

Appearance: 6'0 tall, brown hair, tan skin, dark glasses, always seen wearing a suit.

Age: late 20s

Occupation: Government Agent. claims to work for the Bureau of Weights and Measures but acts like he's working for NSA

Personality: Tries to act extremely serious but when things act up tends to start cursing, except his version of swearing is food words. Misinterprets if/when people are using irony or metaphors.

Show Role: Butt of various slapstick gags and the 'straight man' for conversations. Misinterprets conversations, especially when its funny.

Outside data: Actually IS an agent from Bureau of Weights and Measures, and while he does swear like a g-rated cartoon villain he's a nice guy. His dad, John J. Johnson Junior, chose the names for Johnson and Johnson's older brother, John J. Johnson the Third. The BWM sent Johnson to evaluate what seemed like miscallibrated electronic scales.

Name: Lina Caddel

Appearance: Medium length brown hair and bright blue eyes. Stands 5' 4" and wears glasses. She usually wears a light blue and lavender t-shirt and jeans.

Age: 14

Occupation: Eighth grade student at Tropetown Middle School. However, she is very close to being expelled because of her various shenanigans.

Personality: Lina is a wildly unpredictable teen who loves gaming and exploring. She doesn't make friends easily because of her flightiness.

Real Her:Lina is a story jumper, meaning she can teleport between story-based dimensions at will. However, sometimes she can teleport by accident. She also is not able to leave until she has finished the storyline. Her other power is mind manipulation resistance, which comes at the cost of a mild to strong headache, depending on the strength of the control. Lina is very cynical and her ADHD makes her very impulsive.
