Our regular search already uses google. Google changed something with how their API works so we've got to change some things but it hopefully shouldn't be too much longer.
The "new search" function has been both broken and outdated for years. It searches by individual words instead of phrases and doesn't have the last 3 years of data.

Yeah. The search function goes from being fairly reliable to pretty much a total crapshoot at the drop of a hat a lot of the time. Starting to utilize Google more to find certain pages at this point.
Not sure what it is in the code that causes the problems. Anyone else have any knowledge of it?

The main search has been fixed and uses googles API so it will give the same results as Google would.
There’s the new forum search as well that also uses googles API.
Things like this in the future should only be reported in bugs as Warjay said

Something's terribly wrong with TV Tropes! When I try to look up anything on TV Tropes, the Search page turns up blank with a loading spinning wheel that goes on forever and never stops, and it never gives us the results! The issue seems to be going on for hours! When will it be fixed?
