I can't see this coven anywhere, which is weird. So I thought I'd sound off and see if I can make any friends! I've been vegetarian for a little under a year, and want to go vegan, but I can't just yet because I currently can't afford to because I'm unemployed sad

I've been a massive meat lover for the majority of my life...but I would absolutely love to transition to vegetarian (specifically, lacto-ovo) lifestyle.

If nothing else, I have been successful in cutting down beef at least. XP

I'm not a vegetarian/vegan, nor do I plan on becoming one, but I have two irl friends who are the former.

Okay, so far I'm having some success sticking to chicken as the only source of meat.

Unfortunately, I'm still at a phase where I can't even eat salad with at least some bits of meat, such as bacon pieces. I have a long way to go until I can fully transition to (lacto-ovo) vegetarian diet. XP

Nah that was me for awhile, take it at your own pace! Also I still hate salads not gonna lie. Like I'd rather have soups and stews and casseroles for my sources of veggies.

[up] I like your mindset. [tup]

All right, today I'm gonna do a dietary challenge: I'm gonna go a whole day...without consuming any kind of meat (not animal-based products, just meat).

For the breakfast I had Korean rice with egg, soy sauce, and vegetable oil, or gyeran bibimbap.

For the lunch, I'm planning to have a fancy salad. Instead of bacons or chicken strips, I might add tofu.

EDIT: Made myself a completely vegetarian (not vegan because goddamn, I'm pretty sure I unknowingly used at least one ingredient made from animals) salad. You know what? It was surprisingly filling. [lol]

Oh that looks goooooood. Of course it does the thing all recipes do nowadays and has a whole life story before hand tongue, but I might make some for myself some time soon.

Also what was in the salad?

Let's see...well, the said salad can be pretty much described as me basically throwing almost every fresh vegetable and nuts I could find in the fridge. Lettuce, tomato, fried tofu, carrot, macadamia nuts, etc, with sprinkles of balsamic vinegar.

All in all, not too bad! tongue

All right, so I decided to do a little bit of a challenge for myself.

Basically, at least go a whole day of the week completely vegetarian. And as of now, I decided to do that on Wednesday.

Since I found a whole bag of pita bread in my fridge, I figured I could do a vegetarian pita fillings...even though I never actually tried pita fillings before, but I guess there's first time for everything.

If nothing else, I'm just gonna spread some Kraft Big Mac Sauce. I don't see any explicitly animal ingredients there. [lol]

There was a vegetarian thread once but either it vanished or I imagined it.

I'm not sure if I'd be considered a vegetarian. I do limit my meat consumption but don't see issue eating it if the animal didn't suffer (e.g. a lot of home chicken breeders make eggs and can prove the chicken isn't harmed), the animal was dead on arrival (e.g. beached animals), or a friend serves it randomly. I'm often told this isn't enough and could never understand why.

For about a year now, I've stopped drinking cow milk and yoghurt, planning on stopping eating meat soon as well, for both environmental and animal well-being reasons. Not sure if I'll be able to forgo fish though... I'll have to see when I get there.

Small progress - I managed to cut beef completely out of my diet. Of course, I have no problem eating beef in familial and social occasions, but I successfully avoided it whenever I make the call.

Now that I cut off beef, the next stop will be pork...which will definitely be much, MUCH, harder. XP
