Cleanup Thread: Spider-Man: Spider-Verse Character Pages

Hello, true believers. Welcome to the cleanup thread for the Spider-Man: Spider-Verse. I made this page because the character pages is rapidly expanding due to the stacked nature of the Spider-Man: Spider-Verse movies, the films’ connection to almost every piece of Spider-Man and Marvel media from video games, tv shows, movies, and comic books, to start discussions regarding the page and its formatting, and alleviate edit wars. Feel free to comment your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and opinions on this forum.

Something I think we should look at are the folders where characters have more than one profile picture. We should figure out if we want the main picture to show said characters masked or unmasked and then put the other pictures into folders.

I think it’s better to make their unmasked appearances their main pic

I think that I could go either way on which picture is the main one.

I have an idea: why don’t you go to Image Pickin’ and let the other tropers vote for it

So I have a question regarding the use of Alternate Self, which sort of connects to the MCU and I got into a debate about this with someone. On the Spider-Verse character pages I created an "In General" folder that listed characters that appeared in media connected to the Spider-Verse films with links to whatever they appeared in, which I figured would be useful and would be similar to the "Other Universes" folder on the MCU character pages. Someone deleted this on the grounds that it doesn't fit the specifics of the trope. Do you agree with them about this? And if so, shouldn't the "Other Universes" folders on the MCU be deleted?

One is a trope, one is a folder that leads to other links. Not the same thing really

"Other Universes" might be a folder, but it's essentially used the same as Alternate Self. So should something similar be created for Spider-Verse character pages or should the trope be used for each character folder? Given how interconnected all these franchises are becoming and how people seem to have different opinions on how the trope works, I think we need to clarify exactly what counts as an example of Alternate Self.

They’re only used similarly though but like I said, they’re not the same thing. That’s why no one’s really doing anything about the Other Universes folder but take issue with the Alternate Self trope as others tend to be stricter towards tropes

I’m not taking what you said in an unserious manner I’m just explaining the difference between those two and why they’re being treated differently. Calm down.

I've created a sandbox for Spider Man Spider Verse Prowlers. I figured this might clear things up considering how many Aarons and Prowlers are currently floating around.

I still wonder if that is necessary.

I did already make pages for Miles, Gwen, and Miguel (and Lyla). Gwen’s page seems ready to try and condense but Miles and Miguel don’t have a lot there yet (at least last time I checked)

Also, this might just be a "me" thing but the recent edit entries to TearJerker.Spider Man Across The Spider Verse are starting to feel very much toward the "complainy" side. Like I do get what they're saying but the way it's written doesn't feel very... subdued. It's more like just outright yelling at them for their actions (not saying they're in the right of course but still). In the page itself, most of it comes from the bullet point starting with "In a sense, Miles being alienated from the Spider Society".

Right here (been made for months actually). I know Gwen's does have comments on it but not sure about the other two.

And for the Tear Jerker page how should we go about cleaning them?

Clean them up to make them less complain-y.

I started some of the Tear Jerker cleanup but part of me wants to make sure I don't delete the wrong thing. At the very least I did get rid of two lines that are definitely complaining. How goes progress on the sandboxes?

I think so.

Someone did the cleanup for Miles' folder and I believe they are about to try and put a request to remerge with the Spider Gang page.

I did start for Gwen Stacy but I’d prefer to have some others go in and clean as well just in case. I took care of the reds and blues.
