We, players form smaller non-english-speaking countries, probably known. RPG systems and rulebooks created before internet andknowlage of English language became common. Products of a few individuals without beckground, oficial licences, only with a few english rulebooks and a lot of enthusiasm for new hobby and its propagatin among people of their country.

Were this similar systems published in your country?

Were they succesful?

Were forgotten, take big historical influence in players community, or are they stil published or developed?

Were they overshadowed by Dn D and other American games, when internet arrived? Or are players faithful this old games? Or local and global systems coexist in peace (or war)?

I know, that many this games was published in other countries, but nothing about them. But I am interested to others' people experience. We can share it.

Praedor was pretty big in Finland in the 90's and early 2000's. At least as big as it could be, when published in a language spoken only by 5 million people in the whole world. These days it is closer to a Cult Classic, due to younger generations of players mostly getting introduced to foreign games.

Mordheim technically counts, because of one of the designers being Finnish. It is still really popular among those of us who were initially introduced to it around the turn of the millennium, but I think the young'ins are more interested in 40K and AOS.

I am from Czechia, and it is homeland of Dračí doupě. And expect it is more than 15 years old (newest version), it is still alive and has big influence in czech tRPG comunity.

Honestly, for many people, included players of other systems, use "Dračí doupě" or familiar "dračák", when they mean "tabletop RPG". And probably everybody prefer some game term from it in front of equivalent from game which played.

Dračí doupě has two newer followers. Official, but in name only sequel Dračí doupě II. It is game for different play style and kind of players, but uses specific races, and other iconic elements. And unofficially sequel Dračí hlídka, game for similar play style, but without ikonic things. Honestly, these systems arent good in my opinion, but they are among four most popular tRPG in Czechia.

The first is probably Dn D, but it dont dominate like in USA, it is probably comparable part of community for every of main four. And when I say Dn D, I think people who usually use fan translate of it, or OGL-based czech version. And this versions have strong influence of old Dračí doupě.

So, expect I prefer foreign systems, I have giant respect to legacy of Dračí doupě in our RPG comunity.

[up]Seems very similar to the Swedish game Drakar och Demoner, which started out as a derivative of Dn D, but has over the past 40 years developed its own identity.

In Poland there were some. Two biggest where probably Monastyr (cloak and dagger dark fantasy game, where magic and all fantasy races are spawn of hell) and Neuroshima (post-apo set in USA which according to most people is proof that author had nearly zero concept of real-life USA). Nowadays people rather don't play them, but we have quite active fandom which produces many small, indie RP Gs, very often free.

In Hungary we had M.A.G.U.S.. A pretty messy hodgepodge of a setting with a lot of not very well-balanced rules, but for a while it was the only RPG available in Hungarian so everyone with nerdy interests played it.
