The Monkey's Paw

Like Corrupt-a-Wish, but instead of corrupting the wish's granting, instead tragic events happen that lead to the wish being granted. For example:

Alice: I wish for 200 dollars.

Bob: Granted. Your son, who was working in a factory, is caught in the gears and is killed. The factory offers you 200 dollars as compensation.

I wish for a donut.

Charles: Granted. You open the window of your house for fresh air. A careless teenager throws a crushed soda can with a sharp edge into the road. A car drives over it, bursting a tire. The car swerved and crashes into your house, sending the driver flying out of the car and into your house's open window. The dead driver has a donut in his hands.

I wish I could get all-perfect marks on my exam.

Let's start: I wish I could get all-perfect marks on my final exam.

Granted. You attempt to study while driving and get terribly injured in a car crash. You live only because you get turned into a Full-Conversion Cyborg. You may not remember your life, but there's no need - with all the new intelligence your "mind" has, you practically know everything man does, more than enough to ace any test.

I wish I could get over my fear of clowns.

Granted. You are kidnapped by creepy clowns from your home and taken to an old abandoned building. Inside, they perform intense brain surgery on you without anesthesia, which causes extreme pain. You're also injected with an immortality serum, so you won't die during the process but must stay awake. Oh, and the injection feels like a knife going into your skin. After hours of intense torture, you get up and look at the clowns. You are not scared of them anymore. The clowns modified your brain to make you not scared of clowns but of normal humans instead. You are turned into a clown and now drive to the city to find some more people to turn into clowns.

Hyperinflation turns up to 11, technically you have infinite money but they're literally not worth the paper they're printed on when a single slice of bread costs billions of dollars.

granted, but this means that fiction was never invented meaning that the world is a barren dystopic wasteland with no humans left alive.

Granted. Terrorists looking to destroy buildings For the Evulz choose your area. They plant bombs on several buildings nearby, including an antique store, and detonate them, causing massive destruction in your area. Orphanages, schools, and hospitals are destroyed in the explosion, killing everyone inside these buildings. Your house is partly destroyed due to the explosion, and the monkey's paw is destroyed in the explosion too. Oh no! What do you do now without a wish-granting object? Fortunately, the antique store contained a genie lamp enchanted by indestructible magic, and the explosion caused it to fly into the air and through a hole in your house into your lap.
