Ever since I saw Lightyear, I was curious to check out the show Buzz Lightyear of Star Command on Tv Tropes. It was a show I watched as a kid and I have fond memories of it. What I found were people connecting the series with the new movie. This wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for something like this:

Adapted Out: Buzz's team of Izzy, Mo, Darby, and Sox from Lightyear were written out of the show (per director Angus Mac Lane's comments), and replaced with Mira, Booster, and XR.

Tropes like these like these act like the show is recent. It's not. It came out 22 years ago. Izzy, sox, and the others didn't even exist then. So why put this here? I think we should remove the tropes comparing it to Lightyear because of the time gap. The move JUST came out. It doesn't seem fair.

I think this is more about the In-Universe chronology.

Within the Retroactive Legacy of Lightyear, the movie was the inspiration for the Buzz toy and that it was spun off into the Star Command series. So in our universe Lightyear!Buzz is a newer interpretation of the character but In-Universe Star Command!Buzz is the adaptation.

Connecting the two works only really functions on a meta-level (Lightyear is supposed to be the film Andy saw in-universe, Star Command was supposed to be the show based on said movie). IRL, Pixar never even acknowledged that the cartoon exists, much less reference it in Lightyear. The only thing they have in common is that they star a character named Buzz Lightyear in a white, green, and purple spacesuit.

I don't think we need any examples like that retroactive Adapted Out one unless we want to make a Just for Fun page for the fictional Buzz Lightyear franchise.

[up]I suppose that makes sense. Should I still remove the adapted out trope?

[up][up] Interesting perspective. Makes sense.

I'd say either cut it or reword it to make it more clear that it's a retroactive meta-example.
