Hi everyone, it's Silver with another one of my forum games! This time it's Mafia, which you may or may not know about - but trust me, it's super easy to get the hang of if you don't know how to play it. We'll be playing in blocks of 20, which means that the first game will feature 20 people. I'll post later in the thread to confirm the original signups and what happens going forward. If we have more than 20 people, they'll be put on a waiting list until the next game.

For those who don't know, in Mafia, there is the narrator (me, for the first round), a group of Mafia who pick people to kill (they'll do this over PMs), a group of Doctors who'll choose who they want to save, and a group of Police who'll choose who they want to arrest, along with the rest of the ordinary citizens who vote out people they suspect of being the mafia. The mafia's job is to kill everyone before they are discovered, the police's job is to uncover and arrest each of the mafia, the doctors' job is to... well, save everybody, and the narrator's job is to narrate the story.

(By the way, all of the roles rotate too - including the narrator. In fact, the final winner (last person standing) of the first round will be the new narrator, and I'll be a participant rather than the host.)

The Rules

• Anyone who wishes to leave of their own accord may do so by submitting a PM to me.
• The Day Phase will always last one week from the end of the previous night phase.
  • Whoever fails to submit a PM or cast a vote before the deadline will take no action.
• The Night Phase will last for three days.
  • Whoever fails to submit a PM or cast a vote before the deadline will take no action.

• The votes to kill, save, and arrest by the mafia, doctors, and police must be unanimous or nothing will happen.
• A player who has been killed by the mafia is a ghost and may make only one single public post. In that post, they may not reveal who the mafia/doctor/police is (or we'll have to restart the game).
• Don't reveal who the mafia, doctors, or police are.
• The mafia, doctors, and police will make their decisions by PMing me.
• Don't slip into rudeness. Passion is allowed and by all means encouraged, but passion that turns to hostility will be dealt with in short order.
• During the "night cycle", which is the short (2 day) period of time when the mafia have decided on who to kill, there can be no further discussion in the thread and all discussion should take place via PMs.
• Voting, when finalized, is done by writing "[x] PersonName" (i.e. [x] SilverCrown) and a simple majority vote is required to force the accused to leave.
• So as to keep the game fresh, the citizens will win if no action has been taken four subsequent times in a row.
• A player who has gone a week without interacting will receive a friendly PM (that's basically meant to be a nudge to say, We miss you!). If another week passes and the player still hasn't done anything, then what happens next depends on the signups. That is, if we have more signups than available slots, that person's role is replaced with the person who signed up first.

We may try new roles in later games, but for now we're just trying out something simple. I don't know if people have ever hosted Mafia games on the forums yet. Regardless, it will certainly be interesting.
