someone on reddit mentioned that the Sandora River in Alabasta has been getting displaced by seawater more and more, which might be related.
It's been so long that I've watched Alabasta that I've completely forgotten about Sandora River.

I feel like it would be the supreme irony if, for everything the Five Elders did to try and stop this message for fear of what it would say, they didn't know about this either.

Granted, if they'd found out privately the World Government absolutely would have hushed it up regardless, but the idea that they've been freaking out over a reveal even they didn't know about would just strike me as funny.

It's making me think Joy Boy may have been the reason for the rising sea levels, and this is the sin he and those associated with him (such as Zunesha) bear.

Also, calling a much less serious theory now, wild mass guessthere's a giant stopper plug at Laugh Tale that was placed there by the previous Joy Boy that is the cause of the rising sea levels, and only an Awakened user of the Nika fruit can remove it.wild mass guess

No I like that. And the stopper is an aged barrel of sake which will kill Imu since he's an Umibozu. That is the type of thing Oda would do.
