"I Knew It!" refers to the phenomenon when a fan theory, usually one that's immensely popular and has evidence supporting it in the context of the canon itself, ends up being proven accurate by canon or by Word of God. One would typically think that this, being heavily tied to audience reactions to a work, would be listed on YMMV pages, but for some reason it has always been listed as a Trivia trope.

I don't think that this is how it should be. Trivia usually refers to behind-the-scenes stuff that has to do with the development of a work, while YMMV refers to audience reactions — a thing that's inherently required for there to be fan theories to begin with. So it would only make sense, in my eyes, that it moves over to YMMV for the sake of overall consistency and common sense.

A key reason that I propose that this change take place is because the exact same thing happened to all the Jossed wicks, which is basically the opposite of this trope — when a fan theory is explicitly disproven either in the work itself or by Word of God. Furthermore, the trope that we have for fan theories — Epileptic Trees — is itself referred to as a YMMV trope. So the longer those two things are listed as YMMV, the more inconsistent it looks to have I Knew It! as Trivia.

~King Clark You need to do a wick in order provide proof that a trope is being misused. We can't proceed with this thread without one. Please read through How to Do a Wick Check to learn how to do one and/or ask for help on the Wick Check Project thread.

Closing.
