This is something I was thinking about this because the two genres share a lot of similar tropes. A movie about a cop going undercover would be pretty similar to a movie where a spy goes undercover. Someone informing on criminals would be pretty similar to someone informing on terrorists or foreign powers. And it's not like spies don't ever go after criminals. So my question is, at one point do we differentiate between the two genres? At what point is something Spy Fiction and at what point is something Crime Fiction?
