Peacemaker

Christopher Smith, the original Peacemaker (who this one is based on), has been pretty crazy in the comics. At one point he openly hallucinated his dead Nazi father constantly talking to him, which led to him seeing his enemies as his father and recklessly killing a lot of them.

He also went through a phase where he believed his helmet was full of ghosts.

Yeah I think the main difference with Chris here is that he's genuinely remorseful and somewhat sane.

Compared to how he normally is in the comics as a pretty unrepentant insane knight templar.

Though I understand he was a pretty cool mentor to Jaime Reye Blue Beetle.

In addition to once getting stabbed with about twenty needles in the leg by Jaime's mom (which even he thought was pretty cool since he was choking her at the time due to just waking up after ripping out a reach scarab from his neck, and the fact that he totally missed her doing it).

I always liked the fanon that he was in jail for shooting the president like he did in Pax Americana.

Like a lot of the Charlton characters hr was pretty edgy even pre-Moore.

I means its the channels biggest hit. Would not make sense to not renew it.

Hopefully the second season keeps the same quality as the first.

I'm curious what the second season would entail.

We'll prolly get a higher budget, entailing more heroes and villains to appear.

Maybe more Charlton Comics characters like Question.

Whoo. So now that Task Force X is public, where could things go from here? We've at least got something of a next-season hook in the form of "Goff" and ghost-Auggie (nice nod to the comics I somehow didn't see coming), and the team survived, though I don't know if Adebayo's continued involvement is a sure thing.

Killing cops, references to climate change, I haven't seen a superhero show with its politics this blatant since Damon Lindelof's Watchmen.

Huh so in a way Peacemaker redeemed himself for his actions in The Suicide Squad. He refused to compromise his idea of “peace” and leak the intel leading him to murdering Flagg and almost killing Ratcatcher II, but here he chose to save his team over “peace” and allowed Adebayo to whistleblow on Waller and the government.

Gunn the absolute mad lad really did it! ”Fuck you, Barry.”

Not going to lie was just expecting silhouettes. Them actually getting Ezra and Mamoa is shocking

So the episode continues the running gag of namedropping and therefore canonizing a random DC character... only this time it's an actual A-lister. So Green Arrow's already active in the DCEU? Guess his actual introduction can't be an origin then.

I was kinda hoping he'd show up already established in the Black Canary feature, so I'm happy with that.

I don't actually have a problem with that, I'm just a little surprised they went that route is all.

So if Peacemaker is Better Call Saul, does that make The Suicide Squad Breaking Bad and Bloodsport Walter White?

All seriousness, this is the 3rd best thing the DCEU has made, after Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey.

Jason Momoa and Erza Miller showing up was quite the swerve for me. I'd have never expected it.

So curious are the butterflies based on anything?

They seem legit a new alien species for dc.

So how Chris was in / Before the suicide Squad itself?

There are theories they'll tie into the Reach somehow, but if that will Happen it hasn't been revealed Yet. Maybe DC just wanted to Beat Marvel to doing a Secret invasion story

Goff having survived, that could definitely be a plot thread that continues into next season, albeit probably not the central conflict.

According to Gunn though, Chris fed it the last of the goo in the final scene, so Goff is probably not be long for this world.

So like I know he was hallucinating in the Comics but Is Augusts ghost real? Or atleast in a Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane way? Cause people have pointed out that you hear the Helmut clang when he falls on it

Oof, I suppose that was the last of the honey, wasn't it? That makes sense, I guess I was thinking he'd have scrounged up some more of it, either in the plant or somewhere in the barn... which would be a feasible enough retcon if they decided to do more with Goff, but it is what it is.
