Gimme dat trailer.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh. And just as we were talking about when the filming was going to wrap up, it's actually finished up! Cool!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Cool, and not surprising, as befits a civilized production crew like the one to handle the Sonic Film series thus far, love to see it. And the hype's actually pretty real with one too, given Jim Carrey's back on board as Robotnik.
Honestly, I'm kind of hoping that in this movie, we get to see some of the internal strife surfacing, in relation to the news of his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, being relevant again. I always found it a wasted opportunity that Sonic Adventure 2... never really did anything with that, putting more of the focus on Shadow... and I mean, fantastic game, through and through... but I wanna see more. And we might just get more with this film.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...Civilized? What do you mean by that?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. My pipe dream is to see Mike Pollock play Gerald Robotnik so he can play off Jim Carrey.
Sure Gerald is dead, but maybe an A.I. replica of him can interact with Jim Carrey for the duration of the movie. Maybe through a portable screen much like how Game Eggman interacted with Shadow in his titular game.
We have never seen Eggman and his grandpa interact at all. So there's all sorts of potential there.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Like Jor-El in Man of Steel? Sure, why not.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.It would be pretty interesting to see more interactions between Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik. I do agree that the downside of Sonic Adventure 2 is that they didn't really explore just how Gerald Robotnik's death affected Eggman and it would be interesting to see how the movie handles that, if they do.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Shadow's original VA David Humphrey has teased that he is voicing Shadow in a new project.
Is it possible he may be returning as Shadow in Sonic 3?
On one hand, they have shown they're willing to use actors from the video games with Tails. On the other hand, they'll probably want someone more bankable (nothing against David Humphrey, but as far as I know he isn't a household name) for the main villain of the film, especially since Shadow is probably one of the most recognisable characters from the series.
It’s likely he’s doing recording for Sonic X Shadow Generations. Who knows?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. It'd be weird if he reprised his role for a remake of a game he wasn't originally in. Shadow had a different VA in Generations proper.
Maybe Kirk Thornton was unavailable? Or, given this is about time travel, maybe modern Shadow will meet past Shadow (played by Humphrey)?

Mom and I are gonna binge-watch both movies and the "Knuckles" series before we go see the final movie this December.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.x6: First, Jason Griffith teases that he's voice acting in...something, now David Humphrey posts a selfie of himself with a picture of Shadow conveniently next to him?
The plot thickens...
Oh, and he's got a script, but it's too small to read anything off of it, so we can forget looking into that as a clue. (Incidentally, has Humphrey been in anything else besides Shadow?)
All interesting points. I wish we learn the truth sooner rather than later. (Although truth be told, I wouldn't mind if got someone other than Thornton as Shadow. I'd vouch for Ian Hanlin, who voiced him in Sonic Prime, but Canadian VAs working in US voice roles is a Canadian no-no.)
Nope, Shadow's David Humphrey's only voice role so it's clear he's voicing Shadow for something.
And Jason Griffith never specified he was doing voicework for Sonic specifically like David did. It could've easily been for some other franchise since Jason has lots of roles outside Sonic.
They are probably going to use a big-name celebrity to voice Shadow in the movie, just like they had Idris Elba voice Knuckles.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Yeah, but Tails is voiced by her game VA, so anything goes.
Kirk Thornton indicated in a recent interview (at around 4:50 is when the movies come up) that he isn't voicing Shadow in the third movie so at least know Kirk isn't voicing Shadow.
If the old voice actors are coming back in anything, it's almost certainly not the film.
My guess is the Heroes remaster. The dialogue for that was kind of... famously terrible, but mostly for direction reasons rather than acting reasons (except Tails. I've already been wondering if they're going to replace his actor in remaster). If it's truly a complete remaster, they might be re-recording the dialogue.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. In this hypothetical scenario, expect Eggman and the children characters to have their modern voice actors, since the originals are dead or grew up.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I can't imagine them NOT replacing Tails' original VA. I dunno what the hell Naka was thinking having them use child V As, especially considering that by Heroes Tails was on his THIRD.
Speaking of actors, do we think certain revelations from Quiet on Set (James Marsden writing a letter of support for a friend who turned out to be a molester) is going to affect the third movie in any way?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. No, I think that would've been revealed too recently to do anything about. Now if they have an unannounced fourth movie in production, I could see that getting changed somehow.
Okay, a video from a group called The Playlist is saying Sonic 3 has wrapped.
Yeah, James Marsden confirmed it.
